ANNOUNCING ST. PAUL'S INDY INTERIM ASSOCIATE RECTOR

Please join me in welcoming the Rev. Yuri Rodriguez to St. Paul’s Indy! Yuri will serve St. Paul’s full time as our Interim Associate Rector this summer. Her first day in the office will be Tuesday, June 3 – just in time to be in the pulpit for the Feast of Pentecost on Sunday, June 8. Yuri will be providing much-needed pastoral and sacramental support to the parish during Beth’s medical leave and Jeff’s sabbatical. Beth is scheduled to return to St. Paul’s sometime in August, and Jeff will return on Tuesday, September 9.

Yuri brings with her a deep bench of gifts and experience in ministry. Most recently she served for two years as Curate at Church of the Nativity in Indianapolis. Before that, she served for seven years at Christ Church Cathedral, Indianapolis as the Associate Director of Hispanic Music and as the cathedral’s Communications Manager. Yuri is a seminary graduate of Sewanee School of Theology. She holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Opera and a bachelors in Vocal Performance from the IU Jacobs School of Music.

Yuri has extensive involvement in the ministry of the wider Episcopal Church, including currently serving on the Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music as well as a Trinity Wall Street Leadership Fellow. In her own words, "This program provides formation, mindset, and practical skills for emerging faith leaders with the goal of energizing and empowering our congregations and communities in a way that heals divides, and disrupt injustice as compelled in the Gospel. As a result of this work, I will be implementing a project that celebrates and teaches about the lives of Latina immigrants in our communities of faith.”

Our new Interim Associate Rector lives in Noblesville with her two daughters - Mercedes, a high school student and Belen, a middle school student.

I am very excited about serving alongside Yuri this summer. I am confident she has a great deal to share with, and teach, us. She is known as an excellent preacher and kind pastor. And she’s fun!

Please remember that comings and goings - both clergy and staff - is normal during times of transition, such as an interim time. My promise to you is that the sacraments and pastoral care delivery at St. Paul’s Indy continue, aided by clergy with big hearts and lots of energy. We will be joined throughout the summer by guest preachers and celebrants, including the Rev. Mary Slenski and the Rev. Canon Bruce Gray. These new voices will help our parish explore spiritual leadership through a variety of voices, styles, and people as you begin to prepare for discernment and calling of your next Rector.

May God’s Peace be with you today and always,

The Rev. Devon Anderson, Interim Rector

FAITH IN BLOOM

Altar Flowers with a Bigger Purpose

This summer, St. Paul's Indy altar flowers are doing more than just brightening the sanctuary — they're planting seeds of faith and sustainability! The youth group kicked off spring by planting native wildflowers in St. Paul's flower beds. This summer's altar flowers will include native Indiana plants, chosen not just for beauty but for their role in caring for God’s creation. After services, these flowers will be planted around the campus, adding vibrant color while supporting local pollinators like butterflies and hummingbirds. It’s a living expression of faith in action — one bloom at a time!
