Tip #1: Save time making PDF documents accessible.
It is much easier to make a PDF document accessible by starting out with an accessible Word document. First make your Word document accessible and save as PDF from Microsoft Word. Follow these steps when saving as PDF (This option is only available on Windows):
  1. Select PDF from the Save as type dropdown menu.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Ensure that the Document structure tags for accessibility checkbox is checked, click OK.
  4. Click Save.

Tip #2: Prevent students from editing Word docs.
By locking your Word documents, such as your syllabus, you can restrict the editing of dates and avoid creating discrepancies. To lock a document follow these steps:
  1. Under Tools select Protect Document
  2. Make sure that Read Only is selected
  3. Give it a password on the option to modify the document.
  4. Save your document.
