What’s Changing

Starting June 1, 2026, Kent County Public Library will no longer offer Hoopla as part of our eLibrary.

Why This Change Is Necessary

Hoopla operates on a pay-per-use model with costs ranging from $1.99 to $3.99 per item per checkout. This means that increased popularity and usage results in increased costs.

Unfortunately, this model has reached a point where it is no longer fiscally sustainable for Eastern Shore Regional Library, which provides eLibrary resources for KCPL and other public libraries on the Eastern Shore.

How to View Your Hoopla History or Favorites

On or before May 31, 2026, select “My Hoopla” in the Hoopla app and then “History” or “Favorites” to review items you have borrowed or put on a list.

How to Access Similar Collections

Libby’s extensive collection of eBooks, eAudiobooks, and digital magazines will remain a part of the eLibrary with a new “Lucky Day” collection coming soon.

New eLibrary services will be introduced over the next several months to expand your access to eAudiobooks and to a curated collection of TV shows and movies:

  • Blackstone Unlimited allows you to listen to an unlimited selection of digital audiobooks. All titles are available on-demand.

  • Libby’s “Lucky Day” collection allows you to skip the waitlist for popular titles and borrow them right away by making certain titles available on a first come, first served basis.

  • Kanopy Plus Packs give you unlimited, all-you-can-watch access to pre-curated collections of movies and TV shows.
