Scripture Readings for Sunday, May 2, 2021
Fifth Sunday of Easter

This Sunday’s image of how the risen Christ shares his life with us is the image of the vine. Christ the vine and we the branches are alive in each other, in the mystery of mutual abiding described in the gospel and the first letter of John. Baptism makes us a part of Christ’s living and life-giving self and makes us alive with Christ’s life. As the vine brings food to the branches, Christ feeds us at his table. We are sent out to bear fruit for the life of the world.
From the desk of Pastor Katie

Grace, peace and every good be with you!

Transition times are sometimes fun and exciting...but they all usually carry an element of hard. Many unknowns are faced in transitions and usually our human brain naturally meets unknowns with a bit of anxiety.

A few things I find really helpful in dealing with that - 1: Knowing it's coming 2: Being gentle and graceful with myself about it (or trying to at least!) and 3: Knowing and trusting the love of my community around me.

We're going to go through some of that as we transition back to in-person worship opportunities. There will be some unknowns about some things we'll have to figure out along the way. I trust that God the Holy Spirit is guiding us and will help us recognize what's difficult, be grace-filled with ourselves and one another, and remind us of the bond we have as a community of faith.

As we're discovering in the book of Acts over the last few weeks - being church is about what God the Holy Spirit is doing and moving us to do as a community of faith. The what, where and how all might look a bit varied - and that's ok...we are God's people and doing our best to faithfully live into what God is calling us to be.

We continue, by the grace of God, to be a community that is centered in worship, study, fellowship, service and witness! To God be the glory!

Details you need to know about our plans to re-gather for an in-person worship opportunity are on our website - www.huttolutheranchurch.org
Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.

All my love to each of you.
Peace and grace be with you,
Pastor Katie
