Scripture Readings for Sunday, September 12, 2021
Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Three weeks ago we heard Peter’s confession of faith as told in John’s gospel. This week we hear Mark’s version, when Peter says, “You are the Messiah.” In John, the stumbling block is Jesus’ invitation to eat his flesh, given for the life of the world. In Mark too the scandal has to do with Jesus’ words about his own coming death, and here Peter himself stumbles over Jesus’ words. But Jesus is anointed (the meaning of messiah) in Mark only on the way to the cross (14:3); so we are anointed in baptism with the sign of the cross.

Grace, peace and every good be with you!

Adopt-A-School: Hutto Elementary
A big thank you to Jill Johnson for sharing a little project that the outreach team began during last year and will continue through this year. There's been a great response so far - THANK YOU!! If you'd like to sign up for a month - please visit this link or get in touch with me or Jill Johnson. There will be 2-3 people per month, so no need to feel like you're taking it on all yourself. You'll bring the snacks/drinks to church the Sunday before the meeting and we'll get them delivered.

Please keep all students, staff and administration for all Hutto ISD schools in your prayers!

THIS Sunday is "God's Work. Our Hands." Sunday. Did you see the new banner?? Thanks to a donor for making that happen! Wear your yellow shirt if you have one or send in a picture to Pastor Katie of you in your yellow shirt. We'll be kicking off an effort to help with Hurricane Ida relief.

We have so much great ministry going on! Ministry Teams and small groups are thriving and I'd invite you to consider being a part of one. I'd love to chat with you about your interests and passions and get you in touch with a ministry team. Thanks for the countless hours that so many put in to make our mission and ministry together vital and thriving!

All my love to each of you.
Peace and grace be with you,
<><
