PAULI MURRAY FEAST DAY ON JUNE 27

On June 27, The Rt. Reverend C. Andrew Doyle, IX Bishop of Texas, has asked us to celebrate the Pauli Murray Feast Day. The Rev. Pauli Murray is one of the Church’s contemporary saints and was the first African American woman ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church. She was a renowned civil rights lawyer and helped to strategize some of the most important civil rights cases. She worked with Ruth Bader Ginsberg, then an attorney, to successfully devise a constitutional test to protect women against discrimination.

Bishop Doyle asks that you consider an offering on June 27 for the Pauli Murray Scholarship for African American seminarians and seminarians of color at the Seminary of the Southwest. You may write a check to Trinity Episcopal Church and note on the check “For Pauli Murray Scholarship” and we will forward the donations to the Seminary of the Southwest.

Theme: Rocky Railway ~ Jesus’ Power Pulls Us Through
We are using 1 hour sections of the curriculum, spreading out over 9 Sundays this Summer

Dates: Every Sunday, 10:30am to 11:30am (or when Church lets out) June 13th to August 9th

Where: Eaton Hall & on the Garth

Ages: 4 to 5th grade, although older kids will enjoy & can be “helpers” younger ones can join with Nursery Workers

Dress: Casual! We will sing, dance, play games in and outside weather permitting

Volunteers: Pick a Sunday or every Sunday ~ help with the Lesson, Snacks, or join in the fun! Contact Danielle

Donations: Please take a “ticket” from the Ticket Booth located in Eaton Hall and return items to the office or Church

What if my child can’t attend every Sunday of the 9 weeks? No problem! Come 1 or 9, or any number in between, each Sunday is self contained

Do we have to register? No

Do we have to be church members? No ~ all are welcome! Invite neighbors, friends & family. Drop the kids at Sunday School & go enjoy Church!

Covid Precautions: Following the Diocese requirements. Face coverings are optional for vaccinated families and encouraged for those who are not vaccinated. We will encourage kids to stay spread out, Chew Chew Snacks will be served individually. Strict cleaning procedures. As protocols change, we will update.

Questions: Come to Eaton Hall after the Service this Sunday & ask Danielle.

We can’t wait to start Children’s Sunday School again this Summer ➕
Always wanted to help with VBS but didn’t want to commit to a day? A week? How about give the kids an hour one Sunday this Summer! We would love to have you be a part of VBS Summer Sunday School

We will always have at least 3 Safeguard Trained Adults, so if you want to come help prepare Chew Chew Snacks, lead a Locomotion Game (I have many to choose from in the VBS curriculum), lead a Bible Adventure (I can pick an easy peasy one from the curriculum for you), or Lead the Sing & Play Express. I will provide all the props needed for games & lessons, food for snacks, we just want the kids to have a variety of people to help with VBS, so it feels more like VBS!

Let me know if you have any questions or interest, or want to commit to a Sunday. See you on the Rocky Railway Express ~ Let Jesus’ Power Pull You Through!

Also know that you can drop your kids at Eaton Hall, at 10:30am, for the next 9 Sundays & go enjoy Church!!

MY MINISTRY ?
Every baptized person is called to ministry. The Education for Ministry (EfM) program provides people with the education to carry out that ministry. During the Service of Confirmation we ask God to “Renew in these your servants the covenant you made with them at Baptism. Send them forth in the power of the Spirit to perform the service you set before them.” EfM offers an opportunity to discover how to respond to the call for Christian service.

Lay persons face the difficult and often subtle tasks of interpreting the richness of the church’s faith in a complex and confusing world. A theological education which supports their faith and also teaches them to express that faith in day-to-day events can be useful. As the emphasis on lay ministry has grown, EfM has come to play an important a role by providing a program that develops and informed and knowledgeable laity. The Galveston Episcopal Community has an on-going EfM group that meets weekly. We’d be happy to visit with you about our program. Carolyn and John Speich are recent graduates of the program.

To see information about the EfM program check out the this updated website https://efm.sewanee.edu

William Temple Episcopal Student Center
aka "Willie T's"

WANTED: Two to four zealots who have nothing better to do with their time except working in a hot kitchen with a group of friends that will quickly become your family. Beginning this Fall, every other Wednesday at 3:30 pm, would be the opportunity to prep and serve dinner for UTMB's best and brightest students.

We've had a wonderful run for the past five plus years with Bill Kennard and Linda & Buddy Fredrickson. Words simply cannot express how grateful we are for their incredible ministry to students.  Now it's time for a new crew, does that include you?

Current Team: Mike Ellis, Ollive Shepherd, Teresa Reeves, JaLene Thatcher Khambu, Erik Dill, Gina Thomas and Pat Welsh. For more information, please contact Larissa Botik, 409-599-1457.
