The Scriptural Foundation of The Messiah
Join us for 10 weeks in the Fall of 2019 as we study the biblical passages that form this great work of George Frideric Handel. (1685-1759) The passages were compiled by Handel’s contemporary, Charles Jennens.
Each week we will study the background and context of the scripture, and watch that portion of The Messiah as it was performed and recorded by Collegium 1704 (Conductor Vaclav Lucs) in Prague in 2011.
On Thursday, December 12, we will ride into Houston together for a live performance of Handel's Messiah at 8:00 p.m. at the Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church!

RALLY DAY, or what we’re beginning to call MINISTRY FAIR this year is Sunday, September 8. Last year – the organization, the set-up, etc. was so well done that we’d like to do it again. We will, of course, welcome other ideas or suggestions; after all, we do not believe in “This is how we’ve always done it.” And, “variety is the spice of life.” This year we will have a Ministry Brochure to hand out to passers-by and inquirers in addition to your own creation. The brochure has a descriptive paragraph on nearly every ministry, including contact info, within our parish.

So, please start putting together your displays again, and feel free to share your questions or concerns.

God gave us music that we might pray without words .

We invite you to join the Trinity choir with rehearsals on Thursday evenings, at 6:30 p.m., in the Choir Room.
Please contact Mr. Ron Wyatt for information at 409.765.6317 ext. 212 or email [email protected] .

SECURITY MEASURES
By directive of the Vestry, the entrance doors on Ball Street (office entrance) will be locked at all times. Please ring the doorbell on the right of the door for entry
Sunday entry will only be through the Cloister door.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
St. Vincent’s House is now providing access to showers and laundry
on their premises for the homeless.
Can you volunteer with this outreach project any Wednesday
from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.?
Contact the church office for details at 409.765.6317
SERVICE OF HEALING PROPOSAL

The clergy have been discussing and praying what it would be and look like to add a Service of Healing as another worship opportunity in our congregation.
Here are some scenarios based on our experience; please share your experiences or suggest your preference by emailing, calling or texting us (Susan and Edward) or Trish in the parish office at 409.765.6317 or [email protected].
1.       During Sunday worship those desiring prayer for healing may peel off to perhaps the sacristy where one of the priests or an experienced lay leader will pray with and anoint each person;
2.       Wednesday/Friday noon or Thursday evening – a full service of Healing (anointing of the sick) with or without Eucharist.
3.       As to the venue, please know that Eaton Memorial Chapel (upstairs) with the beautiful Good Shepherd window is an option. It is accessible.

We look forward to hearing from you.

NEW FEATURE!
Each week we will share the story of a student served by our work at Willie T's!
CHRISTINA HAYNES
Christina Haynes is entering her second year in UTMB’s physical therapy doctoral program. Proud to be born and raised in Victoria, Texas, she earned her bachelor’s degree at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio and chose UTMB because its PT program is highly ranked, and because she was inspired by the city’s fine physicians, many of whom are UTMB alumni.
She believes PT gives people their lives back, allowing them do what they want to do. A physical therapist helps grandparents recover to be with their families. Faith had a role in choosing her career path: She believes God created our bodies to be able to heal ourselves, but patients need to know the tools to get better. A physical therapist must be compassionate but firm – there can be pain and stress in the exercises and stretching I guide them through, but I know I can help them if they’ll work with me.
She believes in what Jesus said: “Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me.”
“Serving neighbors is serving Jesus,” she said. “We’re all one big community and I want to do my part. It’s my way of serving the Christian community.”

PARKING LOT USE

Trinity is privileged to be permitted use of the  fenced parking lot across the street for weekly services and, with approval, for our special events. However, by owner’s terms, cars must leave the lot soon after services, lunches, weddings and funerals or risk being locked in behind the fence. We  certainly encourage use of the parking lot, but caution those planning lunch or other offsite  activities to please park elsewhere after church sponsored events. Thank you for helping us to  be good neighbors with the new owners.
