A CHRISTMAS TRADITION
YOU ARE INVITED
TO ATTEND A LIVE PERFORMANCE OF THE MESSIAH
AT CHRIST EVANGELICAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH,
8300 Katy Freeway, Houston
At 8:00 pm, December 12
Meet in front of Trinity at 4:00 pm and we will have a light dinner prior to the performance. No charge for tickets.
Trinity will provide a 12-passenger bus to transport all parishioners who wish to attend this performance. Should additional transportation be needed a van is available.
The CEPC choir and orchestra along with special guest soloists will once again delight you with this special masterwork.
This year’s performances will again be highlighted by our 17th century Flemish harpsichord. This instrument is an authentic Flemish style single manual instrument after Ruckers as designed by Marc Ducornet with all parts and materials from Atelier Marc Ducornet in Paris, custom built by Gerald Self.
This has become a Christmas tradition for many of you, and hopefully, many more in the future. “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty, God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince Of Peace” (
Isaiah 9:6
).

29th ANNUAL ADVENT PILGRIMAGE
4:00 p.m. - December 8, 2019
Mary and Joseph walked from Nazareth to Bethlehem, where Jesus was born in a manger.
This year, as it did for Joseph and Mary, let Advent begin with a pilgrimage.
At its inception, the Galveston Advent Pilgrimage was led by a large tin star made in Mexico that contained a lighted candle. A community procession followed from church to church in the downtown area. That star belonged to The Reverend John Donovan, then Rector of Trinity, and now Rector Emeritus. The star that now leads us is a replica of the original but still leads the pilgrimage and is still owned by Trinity.
Bring your friends & neighbors to join this journey towards Christmas
While the pilgrimage is walked among 5 historic churches, people of all faiths (and any who may be searching for a faith or have none) are invited to participate. A Christmas reading, a prayer and 2 hymns will be sung at each church. At the conclusion, a reception will be hosted by the Catholic Church at The Knights of Columbus Hall, 1912 Winnie. A van, provided by Moody Methodist Church, will be available for those unable to walk the pilgrimage. The procession begins at:

First Lutheran Church – 25

ERIN ROSE
Erin Rose of San Antonio, is a graduate of Texas Lutheran University with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and a minor in biology. She is now a third-year student in the UTMB Physical Therapy Doctoral program.
She was influenced in her choice of a physical therapy career when her late father was diagnosed with cancer. She said she was impressed by how his therapists had the skills to help.
“I like the way we can have personal connections with patients, celebrate small victories along the way and spend time with them. I like to see God come out in each patient, as brothers and sisters in Christ. My goal is to be a healer, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to help God with my hands and skills.
She is a big fan of UTMB and Galveston.
“The UTMB professors are amazing,” she said. “They are open, friendly and helpful, and I love the Galveston atmosphere, especially the sunsets. I’m so thankful to Trinity and the community. I don’t know if I could survive without this Island family. Galveston is the place I was meant to be.”
Erin played soccer at Texas Lutheran, and today enjoys outdoor intramural sports, running on the beach and walking her dog on the Seawall.
For the future, she is leaning toward beginning her career as a traveling physical therapist, visiting different areas of the United States, exploring the world in which we live and learning how different states and therapists work.

PARKING LOT USE
Trinity is privileged to be permitted use of the fenced parking lot across the street for weekly services and, with approval, for our special events. However, by owner’s terms, cars must leave the lot soon after services, lunches, weddings and funerals or risk being locked in behind the fence. We certainly encourage use of the parking lot, but caution those planning lunch or other offsite activities to please park elsewhere after church sponsored events. Thank you for helping us to be good neighbors with the new owners.
