A TIME TO MOURN

As our community has lost so many dear members, I invite you to join in a circle on Wednesday, February 12 at 7:00 p.m. to simply remember them.
We will speak their names, and share the ways we miss them,
and thank God for them.

Feel free to bring a picture, or not. Bring a box of Kleenex, or not. Bring a prayer Book, or not. All are welcome. Come up the elevator to the second floor of Eaton Hall, where there is a time set apart to mourn.

Baptism is the entry into Christ’s body throughout the world, and is open to all ages—infant through very old! Speak with Rev. Susan or Rev. Edward if you are interested.
Confirmation is how a Baptized person becomes an official adult Episcopalian, and is open to middle schoolers and above. If you want to join us, or just desire to learn more about our denomination or our parish church, here is the opportunity:
Discovery Series in One Day: Saturday, March 14 from 9:00 to 3:30 (Lunch and child-care provided.)
Discovery Series in Two Parts: Sunday, March 8 from 12:00 to 3:30, and Sunday, March 15 from 12:00 to 3:30. (Lunch and child-care provided.)
We will learn about the Bible, about the history of the entire Christian community, and about our history as a denomination. Bring all your questions and all your curiosity!

HOST AN IRONMAN ATHLETE
The IRONMAN 70.3 Texas , at Moody Gardens, is in need of hosts for some professional triathletes competing in the event. Race day is SUNDAY, APRIL 5, 2020. The athletes typically arrive the Thursday before the event and leave either Sunday, the day of the event, or Monday, the day after the event. Most have transportation. They typically need a clean, safe room and a place to make meals. In the past they have been very gracious. If you have a room or an apartment/house they can use for those dates, please send Danielle or Mike Alvarado a message at mike@alvarado. These young pros chasing their dreams would appreciate it! DO YOU HAVE A ROOM TO SHARE?
A congregant at another local church needs a place to stay, possibly through May, before and after a surgical procedure coming up soon. She hopes to find a safe room with a bed, small desk, small closet and access to bathroom and kitchen. Based on information at hand, she can pay rent, is otherwise self-sufficient, and probably will not need post-surgery medical assistance. If you have room or if you know someone who has space for a roommate, please contact Father Ed.

ALI UHLE
Ali Uhle is a first-year student in the UTMB Physical Therapy Doctoral program from Tomball who was inspired to enter the profession by a physical therapist who helped her recover from a high school soccer injury.
“My therapist understood my fears about getting back into sports, and helped me recover quickly,” she said. “I have always been involved in sports, and the experience with my own injury made me want to practice physical therapy from an athlete’s perspective. Athletes don’t want to quit, they want to keep going, push through the pain.”
After one too many soccer injuries, she said, her parents urged her to take up a less dangerous sport. So, naturally, she took up pole vaulting! Ali earned a track scholarship at the University of Texas at Austin (her personal best in the pole vault was 13 feet, 9.75 inches – high enough to leap over a one-story house).
Along the way to earning a bachelor of science degree in exercise science, Ali volunteered at Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin and discovered the joy of helping children. “They touched my heart, and now I know I want to work with children.” She worked at a special needs clinic in Austin and was inspired to aim toward a career helping special needs children.
She said she fell in love with UTMB at first site, when she came for an application interview. “They made me feel so welcome, so at home in a small community. I cried on the way home with my mother, worried I wouldn’t get accepted. I was overjoyed the day my acceptance letter arrived.”
She joined Willie T’s through that first interview, too. “They told me about how there are so many people at Willie T’s who help take care of us. They are the nicest, sweetest people, and the free meals on Wednesdays are great. I don’t know any school that has anything like Willie T’s.”
Ali’s hobbies no longer include pole vaulting, but she still loves outdoor sports – volleyball, softball, flag football, for example. She also enjoys less strenuous activities like playing the harp and watching Galveston’s sunrises and sunsets.

PARKING LOT USE

Trinity is privileged to be permitted use of the  fenced parking lot across the street for weekly services and, with approval, for our special events. However, by owner’s terms, cars must leave the lot soon after services, lunches, weddings and funerals or risk being locked in behind the fence. We  certainly encourage use of the parking lot, but caution those planning lunch or other offsite  activities to please park elsewhere after church sponsored events. Thank you for helping us to  be good neighbors with the new owners.
