A CALL TO PRAYER
“Restore to wholeness whatever is broken in our lives, in our nation and in the world:
Hear us, O Lord of life.”
In this season of pain, violence illness, and brokenness in our lives and in the world, a brief time is being set apart to take action in the form of prayer.
You are invited to come for yourself as well as bring the names of others for whom you want prayer and for the incidents and events in our world for which you are concerned.

All ages are welcome, there is no charge, and we will end at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service for World Peace

World Peace Village comes to Trinity Church and School - October 13-27, 2019

BAPTISM AND CONFIRMATION
Baptism is the once in a lifetime moment in which a Christian is re-born, and adopted into God’s family. He or she professes their faith in Jesus, and if they are still a baby their Godparents make that profession on their behalf. We Baptize people of all ages in water—a small amount or a large amount!
Confirmation is the moment in which somebody who is a young adult (or older adult) joins our Episcopal denomination—after learning about our particular traditions and beliefs. It takes a Bishop to be Confirmed, and this happens at Trinity, Galveston twice a year.
Bishop Jeff Fisher will be here on Sunday, October 27, for Baptism and Confirmation. If you want to take this step, email or call Rev. Susan. We would love to welcome you!! (409)765-6317
[email protected]
Confirmation class will be held October 12— all day Saturday session.

FALL 2019 ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL
9:30 AM IN EATON HALL
The Scriptural Foundation of The Messiah
Join us for 10 weeks in the Fall of 2019 as we study the biblical passages that form this great work of George Frideric Handel. (1685-1759) The passages were compiled by Handel’s contemporary, Charles Jennens.
Each week we will study the background and context of the scripture, and watch that portion of The Messiah as it was performed and recorded by Collegium 1704 (Conductor Vaclav Lucs) in Prague in 2011.
|
|
On Thursday, December 12, we will ride into Houston together for a live performance of Handel's Messiah at 8:00 p.m. at the Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church!

Mike Nemec is a first-year medical student from Columbia, Missouri, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business finance from Oklahoma State University. He said he chose to attend medical school at UTMB because of its supportive, less pressured atmosphere, and he said he also likes Galveston because of its “Island Vibe,” a more relaxed and small-town feel. “It’s a cool town,” he says, “I enjoy the beach, I fish a little, and I like the local restaurants (especially fresh seafood). I can ride my bike to school and can get just about anywhere in just a few minutes.”
He and his wife, Brenna, moved to the Island over the summer. She is a special education teacher at Morgan Elementary.
While many medical students earn undergraduate degrees in a biological science, he chose business finance because of his interest in business, and because he felt it would be good experience for the future. While not certain what specialty he will pursue as a physician, he likes talking with people and working with his hands, which might lead toward surgery as a career.
He said he has always been interested in medicine and had a good role model in his hometown who inspired him. “I like the human relational aspects of medicine. People put their trust in you, even though you may not know them well.”
Religion is an important part of his life, and he was involved in student ministries at Oklahoma State.
He began participating in Willie T’s at the suggestion of a physical therapy student he knew in college, and he enjoys the study room, the friendships and relationships Willie T’s helps him develop. “It’s the best place in town to study,” he says, “and I like the food!”
He appreciates how Trinity parishioners support him and other Willie T’s students: “That’s what churches should be all about,” he said.

PARKING LOT USE
Trinity is privileged to be permitted use of the fenced parking lot across the street for weekly services and, with approval, for our special events. However, by owner’s terms, cars must leave the lot soon after services, lunches, weddings and funerals or risk being locked in behind the fence. We certainly encourage use of the parking lot, but caution those planning lunch or other offsite activities to please park elsewhere after church sponsored events. Thank you for helping us to be good neighbors with the new owners.
