Dear Trinity Episcopal Church,
This Sunday is Pentecost! This feast is always 50 days after Easter (hence, "Pente"-cost) and is the day we remember how the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples in tongues of fire and with a rush of wind (Acts 2:1-21).
Last year on Pentecost morning, I climbed to the top of the Trinity Church bell tower and gazed out on a beautiful sunrise. While admiring the majesty of God's creation, I prayed that the Spirit of the Living God would lights our hearts on fire again. Indeed, God has been faithful to that prayer. From that spectacular vantage point, I have seen the Spirit of God perform incredible work among the people of our parish.
And yet, our work is not over. Morning by morning, we waken to the hope and promise that each day would become a new Pentecost. Join me this Sunday and open your hearts again to the power and the promise of God.
With peace,
Jimmy
