This group of artists represents a diverse selection of individual perspectives within the contemporary Jamaican art space. Stemming from different backgrounds, some of these artists are graduates of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts and the University of Technology School of Architecture. Others are primarily self-taught and educated in disciplines that are seemingly far removed from art such as Bio-chemistry, Psychology, Dentistry and Political Science.

Although these artists each prefer different mediums and styles, they share a certain visual language that is more inventive, stylistic and transformative. Through figurative representation, these artists explore themes and concepts that are relevant to contemporary Jamaican and Caribbean realities.

The Exhibition is open until November 30 - if you haven’t seen it yet we invite you to visit the OMG Gallery to view!

OPENING IN DECEMBER

This year’s presentation of the “And I Resumed The Struggle” series of exhibition will feature 20 artists who work across various disciplines including painting, drawing and installation. These past couple of years have proven to be a consequential time in all our lives, with the outbreak of various conflicts, climate extremes, global educational and inflationary instability to a general malaise confronting the dominant political positions and opinions the world over. Our artists are tasked with the difficult problem of crafting ideas that meet the demands of our time and this show promises to present our audience with much to contemplate on these various issues.

PARTICIPATING ARTISTS

This year’s selection of artists ranges from recent graduates of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts to artists that have been pillars of our art culture over the last half century and those who are working in the Caribbean and the wider diaspora.
