BUILD Your Future
Rachel Bardis 2018 Chairwoman
The BIA is proud to announce that we will be bringing back the BUILD Program beginning in 2019. BUILD, Building Universal Industry Leadership & Diversity, began in 2005 and was a highlight in the BIA's education programming until 2008.  The Program is designed to expose future industry leaders to all components of the building industry from dirt to sales.
BUILD candidates go through an arduous referral, interview and selection process and evidenced by the four BUILD Graduates who currently sit on the North State BIA's Board of Directors, this program identifies and assists future industry leaders.
Educational workshops, leadership projects and industry involvement are designed to promote the strengths of the BUILD Recruits. In addition, participants will develop skills in a variety of industry focuses to make them the well-rounded leaders of tomorrow.
Committee/council involvement, event attendance and a community service project will also be required of our BUILD Recruits.  An Advisory Panel of established current leaders will provide guidance and support to our Recruits throughout the year.
Is there an industry professional that stands out in your mind as a leader? Nominate them for this amazing program and help develop their future. Nominations must be submitted by November 16, 2018.  Click here to download the nomination form and recognize an outstanding employee by encouraging their professional development.

Executive Committee Offers Builder Director Nominations for 2019
As many of you are aware, the end of one year only means one thing: it's time to get ready for next year. While there's certainly plenty of 2018 left to go, at the BIA we are always looking ahead.

A major component of our preparation every year is the nomination and election of new builder directors, who will be a part of the association's governing body for a term of three years.  Also, there will be new one year terms for the chairs of our respective councils. Our nominees for the 2019 North State BIA Board of Directors are below.
  • Bonnie Chiu, D.R. Horton
  • Mike Paris, BlackPine Communities
  • Laura Stickelman, Beazer Homes
The next step in this process will happen on December 5 at the Annual Meeting of the Members, where the board member election will take place.  Per our Association Bylaws, additional nominations of Builder Members may be made by filing with the President/CEO. A written nomination signed by at least five percent of the members in good standing must be submitted at least three weeks before the annual meeting.
