In Person Worship Update...
We are still here! We are sorry for the glitches that occurred the past couple of weekends causing the posting of the online worship service to be delayed. We are committed to continue providing this valuable service to our community.
Here are a few reminders for you when coming to worship:

  • Be diligent with the 6 feet social distancing requirements - do not crowd pews. This applies everywhere in the building and in the parking lot.
  • Remember to use the hand sanitizer available in the narthex or pews.
  • Please do not stop in the narthex or inside the sanctuary doors to visit. We would like everyone to have a seat in the sanctuary as quickly as possible when arriving.
  • We ask for your patience with exiting. Please have a seat after the pastor has ended the service and wait for the ushers to dismiss your row. They start at the back of the sanctuary. For everyone’s safety and proper distancing, follow the ushers instructions
  • We have increased our allowed attendees per service.
Please note:
  1. When you receive the text message to register - it is a general announcement text.
  2. IF YOU HAVE PROVIDED YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION ALREADY, YOU NEED DO NOTHING except select the service, the number attending, and the names of others attending.
  3. When registering for services, please make sure that only one member of your family registers. That way more seats remain available for others to attend.
  4. Ushers DO NOT need to register.
Thanks so much!

Weekly Spotlight
Now that worship services are happening both in-person and virtually, Emmanuel’s Ministry of Worship & Music is busy with new duties and routines brought about by the pandemic, all while planning for ever-changing future needs. We thank the many volunteers who donate their time and we’re always looking for new members for the various sub-teams:
·        The Ushers, Altar Guild, and Audio/Visual team are hard at work, helping to make these services look good, sound good, and flow smoothly – all while keeping worshipers as safe as possible.
·        Meanwhile, the Assisting Ministers, Lectors, Greeters, Choir and Joyful Ringers are waiting in the wings and helping out with other duties as they are able.
Please contact Mike Anderson at 989-698-6587 or [email protected] if you’re interested in hearing more about any of these volunteer opportunities. It’s a great way to meet fellow people of faith and share your talents to the glory of God.
Thankoffering
Giving Thanks to God
Women of the ELCA (WELCA) and their families have a time-honored way to give thanks to God, grounded in our celebration of community – the Thankoffering. The WELCA Thankoffering services will be held on November 14 and 15, Donna Batchelor, a gifted speaker, will preach and women will serve.
Your Thankoffering donation supports the ongoing ministries of WELCA, including: Lutheran Services of Florida, Lutheran World Relief, SPARCC – Mission to stop domestic violence, Our Mother’s House - Venice, Coffee Talk – Venice, Katie’s Fund and more. The other half of the offering goes to National WELCA to support churchwide ministries. Learn more about Thankofferings at welca.org/thankofferings. The Thankoffering is Emmanuel Women of the ELCA’s only source of income.
The Thankoffering may be different for many of us this year. If you attend services the WELCA Thankoffering envelopes will be available at the check in table in the Narthex. If you want to support our ministries, but are not attending in person or you are out of state, you may make your check out to Emmanuel and write, “Thankoffering,” on the memo line. If you give electronically there is no specific place online to designate, “Thankoffering,” To share your gift, please notify the office the amount from your offering you wish to donate to the Thankoffering.
The Emmanuel Women of the ELCA are grateful and thank you for your generous support.

Dr. Marlyce Holbach, President Emmanuel Women of the ELCA (WELCA)

Member giving statements were mailed this week. If you did not receive yours or have a question, please contact Kelley Hurlburt at [email protected]
Barb's Medical Minute
I know we can’t see everyone’s beautiful smiles now with masks on, but brushing teeth is still a top priority. Now the dilemma, which is better, electric brushes, or manual? After 3 months of teeth brushing trials, there was a 21 % reduction in plaque and 11% reduction in gingivitis using a powered brush. Plus, electric toothbrush users had healthier gums because they reduced the progression of periodontal disease, and retained 19% more teeth than manual brushers over 11 years. Smile!
Current Collection
The time for collecting annual Blessing Bag Donations from our congregation has arrived. Emmanuel has been so very generous in giving in past years.
The two collection weekends are October 24/25 and October 31/November 1 in the Narthex. If you are unable to attend worship, bins will be placed outside the office during office hours (M-Th 8:30am-12noon) this week only for your donations.

These bags are assembled for Coffee Talk and The Center Of Hope. The past 2 years we filled over 100 bags, and the need is even greater this year. A list for suggested donations is available on the Narthex Table including personal necessities, dark washcloths & socks & non perishable individually wrapped food. (No beverages & no chocolate bars or soft candies). Click Here for a checklist.

In the News...
The office is always trying to keep you informed. Here are a few items for you:

  • The only way we know that someone in our church family is in the hospital and/or in need of prayers etc., is if you call the office and give us the information. We will then forward it to Pastor Hall, Pastor Davis, Barb, and/or the prayer chain.

  • Because of the reduced hours of the office, the deadline for articles for the eNews is Tuesday at 9am.

  • Please remember to wear your name tag to church - sometimes it is hard to tell who is behind that mask! 🙂

  • Please notify the office of any address, email, phone number, etc. changes you have made so our records are up-to-date. We try to keep our church database and mobile directory current. It is the best source for member information. If you do not have the link to the mobile directory, email the office and we will send you the instructions and password.
What a wonderful food donation...thank you so much for all you did to make it special. It was so easy to inventory and it was all the stuff that we really need. Please thank your congregation for cooperating with our “new rules”. Because of all you did it only took 3 volunteers for us to inventory and put away so we were able to social distance in the process. Thank you so much.
