For All Seasons Moves Front and Center in Cambridge
Making remarks at Wednesday’s dedication for the new For All Seasons office in Cambridge, President and CEO Beth Anne Dorman had a story for the dignitaries and business leaders assembled in an adjacent parking lot.
Just before heading to the ceremony, she got a call from the head of Talbot Mentors. There had been a suicide in the community. The victim’s sister was traumatized and needed help. Within minutes, For All Seasons had her scheduled with a counselor for the very next morning.
“There’s no wait time,” Dorman said. “She’ll be with a clinician tomorrow.”
That kind of responsiveness, she said, is precisely what the organization hopes to expand in its new, more visible Cambridge home. After more than three decades tucked away on Cedar Street, For All Seasons has moved to 407 Race Street, bringing its mental health and rape crisis services to the center of town.
The move is part of the nonprofit’s ongoing campaign, Bringing Mental Health to Main Street, an effort to make mental health care as present in daily life as dining out or shopping.

Oyster Garden at Hyatt Regency Part of Year Long Project
(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – A Maryland group is partnering with a Cambridge hotel with the goal of repopulating oysters in the Chesapeake Bay.
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is raising baby oysters, or spat, all across the state, and the Hyatt isn’t just a great place for people to stay, it’s also host to an ideal environment for the spat to mature.
“With the Hyatt know they were a corporate group who had this amazing waterfront access that they wanted to use for good,” says Morgan Shapiro with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
It all happens at the marina.
Yagmur Quillin, a representative for the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge tells us, “So it started with oyster construction cages. So groups were actually building these cages that are now in our water. And the conversation just started, Hey, can we put these in your marina? Is there an unused space?”
The oysters will grow over the next year, and then relocate them to a sanctuary out in the Chesapeake.
But for now, protecting the spat as they mature inside these enclosures is key.

Black Water Bakery’s Jamie Summers Spills Secrets of Success
First things first: Black Water Bakery isn’t named after the nearby refuge. For Jamie Summers, it’s all about black water — coffee. Speaking of which, caffeine has always been the driving substance at the popular Cambridge eatery Summers owns with her husband Brett, from servers zipping around the crowded tables to customers fueling up to meet their days. The chemical formula for caffeine can be found on the wall, and if you look closely, it’s on the floor too.
And that jolt of energy has fueled more than just mornings — it’s powered the bakery’s rise since 2017. Since then, it has doubled in space, survived COVID-19, honed and expanded its menu to become a community favorite, and established a reputation for serving some of the best breakfasts in town.
Jamie fell into running Black Water somewhat accidentally. An initial tenant bowed out after only a few months, leaving Brett with a fully-finished restaurant and no one to run it. Would she? Despite having three school-aged children, she agreed, and has never looked back — spending every day on site, keeping the menu fresh, mentoring the staff, managing crowds, and mitigating the occasional snarky review.

Lets Talk about It with Beth Anne Dorman: The Riddle and Some Answers for ADHD
In our latest Spy conversation with For All Seasons CEO Beth Anne Dorman, we turn to the challenges of having a child or adult loved one dealing with this complex condition that robs its victims of endless time and learning experiences. Beth Anne explains that ADHD often shows up through restlessness, disorganization, or difficulty focusing, but that these symptoms can vary widely. Our discussion also highlights how increased awareness and evolving treatment options have made it easier for individuals and families to recognize and address ADHD in ways that fit their unique needs.
This video is approximately six minutes in length. For more information about For All Seasons, please go here.

Hurlock Prepares for Election November 1
Voters in the Town of Hurlock will head to the polls on Saturday, November 1. The election features a contest for mayor, competitive races for two council seats, and one unopposed incumbent returning for another term. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Hurlock Elementary School.
Mayoral Race: Cephas vs. Murphy
The marquee matchup is between incumbent Mayor Rev. Charles T. Cephas, Sr., and Council President Earl H. Murphy, Jr., who is challenging him under the campaign slogan “Focused on Our Future!”
Cephas, who also serves as a bishop, is seeking another term, pointing to what he calls the town’s prosperity under his leadership. On social media, he has encouraged residents to turn out in force on Election Day.
“If you can’t run, walk. If you can’t walk, vote. Your life and your family’s life will depend on it,” Cephas said. “Let heaven know that you were going to vote, and together we will win this election.”
Murphy, meanwhile, says he’s running to build on his years of service as both councilman at large and council president. His campaign emphasizes collaboration, infrastructure improvements, and community growth.
“My leadership style is rooted in transparency, collaboration, and genuine respect for the voices of the people I serve,” Murphy said. “Now I’m ready to take that service to the next level.”
He has framed his campaign around the idea of balancing Hurlock’s small-town identity with a forward-looking vision for progress.

Speakers Bureau Training
Join the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education's Speakers Bureau!
Want to inspire the next generation? Attend our upcoming training session for the 2025-2026 Speakers Bureau and learn how you can make a difference in Maryland classrooms.
As a volunteer with MBRT’s Speakers Bureau, you have the unique opportunity to bring the real world into the classroom. Imagine the impact your personal story, your challenges, and your career journey can have on a young person at a critical point in their life. By sharing your experiences, you’re doing more than presenting information—you’re showing students what’s possible, sparking new interests, and helping them see their potential.
The difference you’ll make is powerful:
Inspire Career Exploration: Many students are unsure of their next steps. Your story could be the key that unlocks a future in business, technology, healthcare, or beyond.
Build Essential Skills: Through real-world examples, you'll equip students with the knowledge they need to set goals, tackle challenges, and build skills for life beyond school.
Strengthen Community Connections: Your presence in the classroom reinforces a bridge between education and the business world, showing students that their community supports them.
By volunteering just a few hours of your time, you can help shape the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and innovators in Maryland.
Sign up, attend training, and set your goal to visit classrooms! Together, let’s prepare students for tomorrow! #MBRT #VolunteerMD
The program is being offered both in-person and/or virtual at Dorchester Chamber of Commerce
