FROM THE PRESIDENT
HomeAid to Begin the 100th Project!
Chair Phil Rodriguez
As many of you know, HomeAid is North State BIA's charity of choice, and later this spring they will break ground on their 100th project.  HomeAid Sacramento began in 1996 as the second chapter of what we now know as HomeAid America.  Since the beginning, North State BIA members have actively supported our charity of choice through volunteerism and donations; the 100th project is an important milestone for all of us.

The Builder Captain for the project will be Landmark Builders. Working with trade-contractors and volunteers, they will transition a current garage into two additional living quarters for The Taylor House located in Roseville. The nonprofit offers transitional living to young women who have aged out of foster care and need an affordable living option during the transition into adulthood.

The Taylor House empowers their residents to become well rounded, self-sufficient and confident individuals.  With this additional space, they will be able to help more young women between the ages of 18 to 21 develop their skills and become self-supporting adults. Organizations like The Taylor House are of the utmost importance.  Of the 4,600 foster youth that age out of the system each year, a disproportionate number of them will face homelessness during their first 18 months of emancipation.

HomeAid is still looking for some volunteers and in-kind donations for the 100thproject and has set a goal to secure 100% in-kind donations.  Many of HomeAid's Partners have already accepted this challenge including Production Framing, International Studio 81, Tim Lewis Communities, and Harris & Sloan.

Our industry can accomplish so much when we work together and HomeAid Sacramento has proven that through the completion of 100 projects in just 23 years. I encourage you to be a part of this project in any way that you can.  Email Vangelina for more details on this important milestone!

Valley Vision Presentation at the Regional BDC
Earlier this month, Valley Vision's Chief Executive and Senior Director spoke with the North State BIA's Regional BDC to share their recently completed Livability Poll. Their results reflected conflicting buyer preference views that many builders and developers have felt throughout the region- split opinions on growing vs. slowing housing production as well as urban vs. suburban living. Despite the split views on regional growth, nearly two-thirds of all respondents claimed that affordability is the most important quality when considering relocating.
