News and Updates
Your Giving Tuesday Gift Will Be Matched!
#GivingTuesday is on November 30th–a day when people around the world will celebrate generosity by giving back to causes that are important to them. Whether you give a gift, spread awareness, or support someone with scleroderma, you will be making a difference.

We invite you to join us on #GivingTuesday by making a gift to the SRF that will accelerate the pace of research so that we can end this disease. And thanks to a matching gift from an SRF board member, all gifts made on #GivingTuesday will be matched dollar-for-dollar.

But you don’t have to wait! Make a gift today to SRF’s Giving Tuesday campaign and your gift will be matched right now. Because at the Scleroderma Research Foundation, we are on a mission to find a cure, and we won’t stop until we do. Thank you!
For Hope: 25th Anniversary (Watch Now!)
On November 17, 1996, For Hope—a movie Directed and Executive Produced by Scleroderma Research Foundation board member Bob Saget—aired on ABC, gaining critical acclaim and changing how the world sees scleroderma. The film starred board member emeritus Dana Delany and featured SRF founder Sharon Monksy.

“This film was inspired by my sister Gay who lost her life to scleroderma when she was only 47,” Bob says. “For Hope was an emotional film to make, but I know it still brings awareness to scleroderma and why we need research.”

For its 25th anniversary, we are pleased to now make this movie available to view on the SRF website. If you’re inspired or moved by this film, please consider donating to help advance research to find a cure.
Research
Advances in Research at the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Meeting
SRF-funded investigator Dr. Kathryn Torok presented on the use of Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation (ASCT) for Treatment-Resistant Juvenile-Onset Systemic Sclerosis.
Dr. Elana Bernstein, who is an investigator in the SRF-sponsored CONQUER registry, reported on the prevalence of ILD and the use of Nintedanib in the cohort of approximately 500 patients currently enrolled in CONQUER.
Making a Difference
Shopping for a Cure
We want to give big thanks to the many friends in our scleroderma community who selected SRF as their designated charity for purchases made through Amazon Smile. Every time they shopped, Amazon Smile donated 0.5% of the sales to SRF, generating more than $3,335 in the past year alone! So, if you’re doing some online shopping this holiday season, remember to shop on Amazon Smile and choose the SRF as your designated charity. It's an easy way to make a big impact.
In Loving Memory
Remembering Nancy Bechtle
This month, we remember with fondness the wonderful Nancy H. Bechtle, Dec. 14, 1939 - Nov. 3, 2021. Nancy served as a member of the Board of the Scleroderma Research Foundation for many years. She was a champion for scleroderma, a caring spirit, and a dear friend who will be greatly missed. Our lives and this world will be less bright without her in it.
