Ad Standards News and Updates
Ad Standards has moved in Toronto and Montreal
On August 1, we officially moved into our new Toronto office space at 33 Bloor St. East, Suite 303, M4W 3H1. Below is a glimpse of Ad Standards reno fun. Happy to say we made it and are now up and running, so feel free to drop in and check out the new open-concept layout.

Our Montreal office also moved this summer and has been at 505 René-Lévesque Boulevard West, Suite 1250, H2Z 1Y7 since July.
Ad Standards Scholarship
The Ad Standards Scholarship, formerly the “Robert E. Oliver Award,” has recently undergone some exciting changes. First, we have re-branded it in order to more directly connect it to our organization and further clarify that it is a scholarship. It continues to honour Robert. E. Oliver, our organization’s first president and a pioneer of Canadian advertising self-regulation, however the name now clearly ties it to Ad Standards.

Secondly, we now offer two $1500 scholarships  for Canadian post-secondary students, rather than a single scholarship. One is open to students attending a primarily English post-secondary institution and one is open to students attending a primarily French post-secondary institution. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in an undergraduate advertising or marketing program at a Canadian university or college. The deadline to apply for 2019 is February 28.

Marketers x Mentors Program
Strategy, the Association of Canadian Advertisers and Ad Standards are proud to introduce a new mentorship program designed to help marketers make a mid-career pivot. This program matches successful applicants with a mentor and provides exclusive roundtable mentorship opportunities at select industry events. An A-list roster of mentors will be paired with selected finalists to provide guidance and feedback to help achieve specific career goals.

The year-long Marketers x Mentors program is open to Canadians in a mid-level role at a marketing-driven organization. Applications opened on September 20 and are due by October 19. Once applications have been reviewed, the Marketers x Mentors program will kick off in 2019.

Bill S-228 passed and is now at the Senate awaiting concurrence.
