Help us Protect Denman Island - Coastal Rainforest!

Big news! We are excited to announce that we are fundraising to protect 38.7 hectares (95.6 acres) of mature Coastal Douglas-fir forest on Denman Island. A Northern Gulf Island in the Salish Sea, Denman Island is close to the town of Comox on Vancouver Island and is within the K'ómoks First Nation traditional territory.

"Coastal rainforests are some of the wettest non-tropical ecosystems on earth. The Denman Island - Coastal Rainforest is an ecological powerhouse and provides tremendous benefits to wildlife, people, and our planet. It is so important that we join together to protect these vital ecosystems and combat climate change and biodiversity loss." said Jasper Lament, CEO of The Nature Trust of BC.

Plus, this fall, all donations will be matched by three incredible donors. Donate today to quadruple your impact and help us conserve this lush, mature coastal rainforest forever.

Thank you for supporting our 2023 Fall Gala!

On October 5th, we celebrated at our Fall Gala!

Thanks to your generous support — whether it be bidding on a silent auction item or sponsoring a table — we raised an incredible $700,000 for land conservation. Thanks to the Government of Canada's exciting Nature Smart Climate Solutions initiative, the impact of your support is $1.4 million put towards the protection of wildlife habitat and ecosystems right here in British Columbia. That's an incredible accomplishment!

Restoring the Luckakuck Creek in Wells Sanctuary

Over the summer, our South Coast Conservation Field Crew continued work on the restoration of Luckakuck Creek in the Wells Sanctuary conservation area in Chilliwack, BC. Our crew, along with Ducks Unlimited Canada, worked together to improve habitat and ecosystem function with a focus to benefit threatened native species.

A key aspect of this year's restoration activities involved the management of highly invasive yellow flag iris. Learn more:

Nighthawk Hills Fundraising Update: Only $47,000 to go!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of donors like you, we are just $47,000 away from reaching our goal and ensuring this nature hot-spot is protected forever. With your help, we can protect habitat for the vulnerable species that call the Nighthawk Hill Grasslands home, including the Common Nighthawk (pictured) to the Western Harvest Mouse, and the Pallid Bat and the Sage Thrasher.

The Nature Trust knows that partnerships are key to achieving conservation success. We can't do this work alone. Watch here to see our partnerships in action with Teck and the Sparwood Fish and Wildlife Association.

"Nature loss is a serious global challenge that we are called on to do our part to halt and reverse. Tackling this challenge requires collaboration between industry, Indigenous communities, governments, and non-profit organizations." - Jonathan Price, CEO, Teck.
