Judicial Wellness Program (NMJWP)

Happiness in the work: How do we find it? Sometimes as it is as easy as reminding ourselves of why we were called to become lawyers in the first place. Re-examining the original passion we had for the work and reminding ourselves of the values we hold that fulfill us in this career can be fertile ground for re-committing to the job we do for our clients.

If you are an attorney or judge who is struggling with overwhelm and/or burnout, asking yourself "What brings me joy in this work?" "How can I find the passion I had when I started?" can open up some space to reframe your work. Also, reach out to the JWELL or LAP programs with the State Bar of New Mexico if you need additional support. We have coaches, counselors, newsletters and more to help support you!

Please visit our website to find out more about our JWELL services. https://www.sbnm.org/Member-Services/New-Mexico-Judicial-Wellness-Program

Professional Development Program (PDP)

In addition to other resources, the Professional Development Program has developed and posted to the State Bar website various checklists, forms, articles and links to relevant resources to allow lawyers to follow best practices when engaged in succession planning, closing files, managing trust accounts, appearing before a tribunal in a virtual setting and starting a small law firm. You can find them at the Professional Development Program tab on the State Bar of New Mexico’s website.
