The Year Ahead
Phil Rodriguez 2019 Chair
The building industry is a special place.  While we are fiercely competitive with one another, we also understand that we are stronger as a whole, working collectively toward shared goals.  This collaboration is what has made our Association so strong.  For 75 years the BIA has had a strong and imperative history in the Sacramento Region, and we constantly strive for better.
I feel humbled to be chosen to lead the BIA through this next year.  I am joining a great class of past leaders who have exceeded necessity and lead our Association to where we are today. We will continue building relationships with local government officials, bringing new members to the Association to reach our goal of 555 for 2019 and offering meaningful and educational events.
I want to mention three new additions to the BIA family that I would like to see grow this year.  In 2018, the BIA added the Infill Council to help address the specific needs of the infill developments that are becoming a prominent part of building in our region. Additionally, the Custom Builder Council was brought back after being gone for a number of years.  Having this variety is what makes the BIA versatile and capable of accomplishing our goals. Lastly, the BUILD (Building Universal Industry Leadership and Diversity) program has returned this year after taking an eleven-year hiatus.  I have sat on the Board with several BUILD Graduates and I can confidently say that this program helps develop some of the best minds in the industry.
Thank you all for being a part of this wonderful association and helping us reach our goals.  I look forward to this coming year.  We have a great Association and I am eager to accomplish a lot this year with all of you.
