| | Petertide: Meet our new Priests and Deacons | | |
Eight people will be ordained Deacons and six ordained as Priests over two services at Norwich Cathedral.
Charlotte, Iain, Jonathan, Melissa, Rachel and Jamie will be ordained as Priests on Saturday 28 June at 10.30am.
Ben, Karen, Dan, Hannah, Michael, Carolyn, Lucy and Gaynor will be ordained as Deacons on Sunday 29 June at 10.30am.
The services will be livestreamed via this link: https://cathedral.org.uk/livestream/
Please join us in praying for all those who are to be ordained and their families.

It was great to see so many people at the Royal Norfolk Show on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 June. The Chaplaincy tent was supported by the Diocese of Norwich, and we provided chaplaincy, rest, refreshment, a listening ear, a place to sit in the shade and a steady stream of candyfloss!
The theme this year was 'Taste and see that the Lord is good' which resonated well with people at the showground and the excellent local produce on display.

Tom Ewin, 20, of Hoxne, near Diss, is the 2025 winner of a prestigious environment award. He was presented with the Bishop of Norwich Sustainable Environment Young Employee of the Year Award by the Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Revd Graham Usher, at the Royal Norfolk Show today, Thursday June 26. Tom, 20, wins £1,000 and a big boost to his fledgling career in farming and conservation.

Heart of Norfolk Eco Fair first
On a fiercely hot mid-June weekend, the Heart of Norfolk benefice welcomed over 125 people to its very first Eco Fair and Creation Care Sunday service. Rector, the Revd Sally Kimmis reflects on the journey to this point and some of the lessons learned along the way.
“At the end of June last year, we had a group service for the Heart of Norfolk benefice, focusing on care of creation,” Sally recalls. “At the service, Dave Appleton, from North Elmham, spoke movingly about the ‘Towards net Zero’ conference he had recently attended, where the keynote speaker was Bishop Graham. Dave said, ‘Why are we interested in this as Christians? Really, it’s because it’s about God’s world. It’s God’s creation, which he has entrusted to us as stewards of creation.‘

Farewell service held for Canon Andy following a decade at the heart of Norwich Cathedral
"Canon Andy has made an outstanding contribution to the life of the Cathedral and its work in the wider community. From pastoral care to preaching to spearheading missional events, Andy has brought huge energy, vision and enthusiasm. We are hugely thankful for the part he and Wendy have played, and wish them well for all the future holds.” The Dean of Norwich, the Very Revd Dr Andrew Braddock.
“It has been a great privilege to serve at Norwich Cathedral; it is a wonderful place in which to live and work. I have been enormously grateful for the support I have received from staff, volunteers, the congregation and my amazing clergy colleagues. A Church Near You is the Church of England's church finder tool and even if you don't use it, there is a page on the platform for every Anglican church in the country, populated with basic contact information.

Final call to fill in your Energy Footprint Tool - this will really help us to collect valuable information and your parish could win £1000!
DEADLINE: 30 June 2025
Courtesy of the Anne French Memorial Fund, we are able to offer parishes the chance to win a £1000 prize if they complete their Energy Footprint Tool (EFT) so don't miss out!
Awarded via a lottery draw, the grant can be used to support energy efficiency work on any parish buildings - providing long-term savings and helping our diocesan commitment to achieving Net Zero.
The form has only ten questions; all that is needed to complete the process is a parish's energy bills for the last year and a couple of other basic bits of information

Publicising your events
The best way to publicise your local church event digitally is to use your A Church Near You web page.
If you have a local Facebook church page, it's also a good way to help promote your event. The next webinar on this is on July 23 at 3pm. You can register here: Webinar Registration - Zoom
If you are printing leaflets, make sure they are good quality, include your church logo and contact details and any images must have permission or copyright usage.

Bishop's Garden Open Days - 4 more opportunities to visit this summer
Step into a hidden historic garden where every glorious border and peaceful pathway will be helping local charities fund their work. The Bishop of Norwich’s beautiful garden is open in aid of 10 local charities this spring and summer. Last year more than 3,000 people enjoyed these charity open afternoons, raising more than £25,000 for local good causes

Pilgrimage to Taize
Saturday 19 July to Monday 28 July 2025
The Bishop of Norwich is leading a pilgrimage to Taize for young people aged between 18-35 and living in the Diocese of Norwich. Do pray for the group as they visit this inter-denominational monastic community with a focus on youth.
