Much of the info in this note, the second eNews of the new school year , is familiar. However, we wanted to be sure that we again distributed the opening of school info to the community. Scroll down to the bottom for "New News." Thanks for your attention.

"Welcome back!"

Linked here is a letter from our new Parents' Association Chair Maria Beck , which we hope will help you become better acquainted with the PA. We have also linked a note from Raquel Majeski, LA's dean of equity and community affairs about Lawrence Academy's Lawrence Academy Mentorship Program ( L.A.M.P.)

Then, be sure to peruse our Lawrence Academy Parents' Association (LAPA) Info Sheet - this one-page PDF gives you quick access to dates and details. Also, now is the time to sign-up to learn more about our many opportunities to get involved via our Parent Volunteer Form . Once you have completed the form, one of our parent volunteers will be in touch.

A note from the Academic Office: Thank you for your patience as class schedules are released. While schedules continued to be published, they remain in draft form. Your students are able to order the required books for their classes. However, they need to note that their assigned blocks may shift as we finalize all student schedules. We have been told that books will arrive on time but, either way, teachers will be flexible should a delay occur. Again, we appreciate the community's understanding as we work to ensure balance and thought for each of our student's classroom experience. The Veracross Implementation Team
Meanwhile, the front page of www.lacademy.edu points parents to 2019 – 2020 School Year and other pertinent "start-of-school" info. More information is also available through The Parent Portal and recent parent and student emails.

Some additional reminders about registration:

  • Click here for a full list/schedule of the upcoming Fall Registration and Opening of School schedule. Read carefully, as some information has changed from previous years.
  • All students should bring their laptop to registration.

New News

  • The community service requirement of six hours must be completed during the school year (early Sept. to mid-June) for each school year. Students may attend an LA-sponsored project or they may volunteer for a non-profit in their home community. For more information visit the Service at LA webpage. Seniors need to have all hours for the 2019 - 2020 school year and previous year’s missed hours done by February 28, 2020.
  • Grit & Wit is back at LA this fall during the on-campus weekend - Sunday, September 15, at 3:00 on the turf field. Boarding students are required to attend and day students are welcome to participate. However, participants must have a waiver electronically signed by a parent/guardian (or by a student who is 18+). Click here to access that form.

Finally, as the school year ramps up, The Page remains your up-to-the-minute, one-stop-shop for all the information you'll need to navigate academics, arts, athletics, and weekends at LA.

We will see all of you soon!
