I don’t know about your spring, but mine has been busy and exciting. If you remember my last message to you, I talked about every week of worship in May being filled with something to celebrate. I hope you’ve been with us for graduating seniors, incredibly gifted children and (this last week) marvelous new members. That’s right. Our latest class of growing and maturing disciples went from confirmands to members Sunday morning in a wonderful and moving service. These boys and girls are a fresh breath of spring themselves and the hope of our future here at FMC. Please continue to pray for them as they seek God’s word for their lives. Additionally, we added new families this week. God is on the move at FMC!

Now, let me look to the near future with two important things. Again, I know firing up the memory can be exhausting, but does anyone remember what happens on the last Sunday of May this year? Fifty days after Easter?

PENTECOST!

Yes! We’re going to celebrate the birth of the church. May 28th is Pentecost. It will be another great day of worship in our Sanctuary and we are celebrating in red – the color of Pentecost Sunday. Our choir members have been scouring their closets looking for their favorite red shirt, blouse, jacket, shoes, slacks, hat… So let’s all wear red with them and make it an important day with a little fun.

And speaking of choir…

Can you hear it? It’s mighty music Monday coming to a choir room near you. Soon, the amazing sound of voices will be filling our Choir Room at First Methodist every Monday morning at 10:00a.m.

Are you one of our very important 55+ members at FMC? Do you have a few friends who you’d like to invite to church? Do you love to sing, but feel like the rigor of every Wednesday night and every Sunday morning no longer fits well into your life and schedule? Do you want to be a part of a great choir that lifts the spirits of our church and our community? Do you enjoy the wonderful sacred tunes of our faith, but catch yourself whistling a snappy pop tune or Broadway classic around the house? With Encore, you get all of that and more.

What’s happening, you ask? It’s our newest vocal ensemble having more fun than you could imagine as they prepare to share their song with the world.

How do I get in on the fun? Come to our “get acquainted” meet and greet on Monday morning, June 5th at 10:00 a.m. in the Choir Room. Get the latest scoop on how you can be a part and get in on all the fun. Enjoy a snack and chat with new friends. After that, we will meet every Monday at 10:00 a.m. beginning June 19th for fantastic music with a good dose of fun and fellowship.

You just thought your choir days were behind you. There are so many who miss singing or feel like they’ve ‘aged out.’ Not true! God has a special place for your voice and your spirit. Don’t miss this terrific opportunity to use your gifts – for your pleasure and service to others – in our new Senior Adult Choir.

Got questions? Email me at craig@fmconroe.org or Pat Austin at patmarkaus@gmail.com. Or give her a call at 281-960-6712.

Pat is a very gifted choral director who will be leading this merry band of terrific singers. See you there!

God’s Peace and Joy to you all!
