eNews: Get your Easter baskets ready!

Greetings!

As we approach Holy Week we have so many opportunities for you to come and reflect on the resurrection.

April 2nd will be our Palm Sunday Service and also First Family Sunday. Kids will have the opportunity to process in with their palm branches at the beginning of the 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. service. If you would like your child to participate, we will begin lining up outside the Sanctuary before service begins. They will be led around the Sanctuary waving their palm branches and then be invited to sit with their parents for the remainder of the service.

April 7th we will be having a Family Good Friday Service at 5 p.m. This service will walk through the resurrection story using pictures, scripture, and engaging visuals for kids. There will also be a Traditional Service at 7:00 p.m. as well.

April 8th at 9:30 a.m. in the Gym we will be having an Easter Eggstravaganza where kids will be able to hunt for Easter Eggs! We will gather for Easter crafts and activities appropriate for all ages. We will have a photo booth area set up and a special appearance by the Easter Bunny! There will be two Easter Egg Hunts: we will call our Babies - Preschoolers out to the playground first. Once they finish, Kinder - 5th grade will be able to come out and hunt on the plaza! Remember to bring your basket!

April 9th, Easter Sunday we will not be having Kids Worship. We hope you will join us for either the 6:30 a.m. Sunrise Service, 9:30 a.m. Table Service, or the 11:00 a.m. Traditional Service. There will be a short children’s moment during the 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. service for the kids as well.

Fill the Sanctuary with Easter Lilies

Now through April 5

Our Music Ministry announces their lily sales are in full bloom. Help us bring the beauty of the season into our Sanctuary this Easter by filling the space with these beautiful plants that trumpet the celebration. Add to the excitement of the day and our joy of the Resurrection by purchasing a plant ($20) in memory or in honor of someone special. Many of you honor family, friends, study groups, ministries or leadership with this wonderful gesture of appreciation. Others choose this beautiful tribute as a memorial.

You can order a lily by visiting the Welcome Center this Sunday morning or calling the church office. Sales will continue through April 5th. Don’t miss your opportunity to participate in a long First Methodist tradition that adds so much to our worship space.

Adult Ministry Trivia & Potluck Dinner

Sat., April 1 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

What better way to celebrate April Fool's Day than with a night of trivia! If you know a little about a lot we hope that you join us for fun and fellowship in the Asbury Room. We will start the night with a potluck dinner and then have a few rounds of trivia. You can form your own team or just come and we will find a spot for you. Walking the Prayer Labyrinth

April 3 through April 7

Are you looking for a way to go deeper in your prayer time? We want to invite individuals, families and Life Groups to take time during Holy Week and walk the Prayer Labyrinth. This is a tool that has been used for centuries as a way of guided prayer.

It will be set up in the Asbury Room during office hours, 9AM-4PM, Monday-Wednesday and until 8pm on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Information on walking the labyrinth, ideas for guided prayer and all supplies will be on hand as you enter. Spend time with our Lord as He heads ever closer to the cross during Holy Week.

Thurs., April 6 at 7:00 p.m.

Share in the remembrance of the last meal Jesus shared with his disciples before his crucifixion and when Jesus washed the disciple's feet. This special service will feature reflection on Jesus' final acts before he went to the cross using art, music, prayer, proclamation and the sharing of the Lord's Supper.

Family Good Friday Worship

Fri., April 7 at 5:00 p.m.

This service is for children of all ages and helps them to understand Holy Week. The service will work through Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and the Resurrection. We will sing songs, hear scripture, and take communion. Nursery will not be available as we hope all children will attend!

Good Friday Worship

Fri., April 7 at 7:00 p.m.

Come and travel the final steps with Christ. Steep yourself in the sorrow and sacrifice as you encounter the Lord in a new and expressive way. Bring your burdens to the cross. Find God’s peace in its darkness and rest in readiness for the coming light of Christ.

Prayer & Healing Ministry Training

Begins Thurs., April 13 through May 11

from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

There is great joy in praying for/with someone and seeing God answer prayers! We are offering a training course that will give you tools to make a difference in people’s lives through prayer. Beginning April 13 for five Thursday nights, a class is being offered by Rev. Susan Grittman.

This course offers a scriptural basis for God’s gift of healing and intercessory prayer for healing. It teaches the student how to effectively pray for healing of all types. The format will include DVD based training combined with teaching by Rev. Grittman and time for discussion, questions, and prayer.
