The Leaders Under 40 program, previously the Emerging Leaders Under 40 Award, recognizes and celebrates those who are making a difference in the Stillwater community professionally, civically and personally.
The Top 10 Leaders were announced at a luncheon on October 10. Leaders and guests had the opportunity to hear from keynote speaker Jill Donovan, founder of Rustic Cuff and author of The Kindness Effect. Donovan graduated from ORU and went on to earn her law degree from the University of Tulsa. She was a practicing attorney and adjunct law professor at TU when Rustic Cuff was born. Donovan had many pieces of advice for the young professionals and ended with her favorite quote: "Don't compare your Chapter 2 to someone else's Chapter 20."
Young Professionals of Stillwater, a Stillwater Chamber of Commerce organization, seeks to create an outlet for young professionals to interact with one another and get involved in the community through professional networking and social events. The Leaders Under 40 are selected on the basis of their community involvement and their effort to uphold this goal.
"These individuals exemplify everything we hope to see in the Stillwater community," said Justin Minges, Chamber president and CEO. "We couldn't be more proud of these 10 and all those who applied. What a fantastic way to be able to say, 'You're doing a great job to help move Stillwater forward.'"
