Nevada Lawyer Tackles AI Developments in June

The impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the ever-changing legal community continues to grow, and the June issue of Nevada Lawyer magazine offers lawyers advice on how to keep up with this expanding technology.

Jen Shomshor investigates how AI will impact the future of the legal profession. Matt Hoffman and McCall Johnson examine the ethical considerations in the age of generative AI. Ronald Green navigates readers through AI and copyright law, and Maggie Lee has written a CLE article on AI.

On a different topic, Elliot Anderson writes about the changes to the Nevada Rules of Appellate Procedure.

As always, the magazine includes regular features such as the president’s message, news and notes, and the bar counsel report. While you are there, check out the Nevada Lawyer archives for a lengthy list of back issues.

State Bar Committees Seek Volunteers for Board Openings

The State Bar of Nevada is looking for qualified individuals to fill open positions on several volunteer boards. To volunteer, submit an online application form by August 1.

The Board of Bar Examiners is seeking six applicants to serve on the committee. The 14-member committee writes and grades the bar examination questions and oversees the administration of the two bar examinations and the committees related to the bar application and admission process. The board works closely with the Supreme Court and the Board of Governors in formulating rules and procedures for admission to the State Bar of Nevada.

The Character and Fitness Committee is seeking two attorneys to serve in open Southern Nevada panel seats. The committee conducts investigations and holds informal and formal hearings with respect to bar applicants’ character and fitness. The committee reviews those applicants who are recommended to the committee by the admissions director. The committee determines whether an applicant has the requisite character and fitness to be recommended to the Supreme Court for admission to the State Bar of Nevada, often after holding an informal or formal hearing.
