Share the Plate: Vikalp Women's Group
Since 1996 Vikalp Women's Group in Baroda, Gujarat, India has worked alongside rural and tribal communities, across gender, class, caste, and region, to advance the rights of women and LGBTQ+ people, from crisis shelter and legal help to health care and livelihoods. Through Sabrang, their collective, queer women and trans people across Gujarat can find each other and feel safe. On a weekend when we celebrate the courage to come out, Vikalp's intersectional approach shows us what our UU value of interdependence looks like in practice. Rev. Abhi recently visited them and invites us to support their work. Thank you for your generosity.
You may give online (now with Google Pay), via Paypal, by texting 'CLUUC $[Amount]" to 73256, or by mailing it to Cedar Lane.

An Update from the Grounds Ministry Team
You may notice some changes happening in the Memory Garden. In October, weather permitting, another section will be added to the Memory Wall, increasing the capacity by 50%. An experienced stonemason will do the expansion and we are confident that the new section will match the two that are already there. In addition, we are renewing several of the garden beds. They have been the same for many years due to budget constraints, while the trees in the area have grown and the conditions for healthy plants have changed. We are confident that over the coming years the renewals will help return the garden to the beauty it was when initially planted.
We also want to let you know that we will be removing two very large old trees from the grounds. We (and our arborists) are dedicated to preserving trees whenever possible, but both of these trees present an imminent danger to our campus. They have both lost major limbs recently and it would be dangerous to leave them standing. We will leave snags (tree trunks) 10’ tall, which will host many creatures In the coming years.
Finally, our campus has recently been designated as a Certified Wildlife Sanctuary by the National Wildlife Federation. The sign is located in the Welcome Garden.
