In a season of September beginnings, caring ministry at Cedar Lane is on a creative threshold. Building on good current systems, we can all find new ways of being present to one another in the work of Love. Share the Plate: Unitarian Universalists for Social Justice (UUSJ)
UUSJ is our own denomination's voice for direct federal advocacy here in the nation's capital. For over a decade, UUSJ has organized UU congregations to hold our federal government accountable to the practice of democracy and the dignity of all people. Their Advocacy Corps has held nearly 500 meetings with Congressional offices and delivered over 11,000 letters and messages from UUs directly to lawmakers, translating our shared values into real pressure on the issues that matter most: fair elections, racial and economic justice, and standing as allies with marginalized communities. Supporting UUSJ means investing directly in UU-rooted, national infrastructure for turning our faith into action.
You may give online (now with Google Pay), via Paypal, by texting 'CLUUC $[Amount]" to 73256, or by mailing it to Cedar Lane.

New Member Spotlight
We welcome Mimi Majumdar Narayan, Vik Narayan, and their daughter Neha.
Mimi and Vik grew up in Hindu families, and what brought them to Cedar Lane was their friendship with Rev. Abhi, occasional visits for Holi and Diwali celebrations, and the sense of community Cedar Lane fostered. As Neha grew up, she wanted a faith community of her own, and the social justice work here appealed to all three of them.
The Narayans live in Kensington. Neha just graduated high school and is now at Cornell University, where she's studying in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations. She hopes to build a UU community on campus. Between them, they love meeting new people and making connections. Mimi is always happy to talk about food, gardens, and what makes a neighborhood work. Vik is a soccer fan and a trivia whiz on all things music and film. Neha loves to read, sing, hang out with friends, and listen to podcasts about politics and policy. They're grateful to have found this community of kindred spirits.
