Sharing Christ’s love with LCMS Church Workers

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) church workers are such a blessing to God’s church. Anytime is a great time to show our appreciation for the dedication and time commitment these “helpers” give in sharing Christ with us and others through their words and deeds.

The women in the LWML thank our church workers for their dedication to sharing the love of Jesus with those around them. As Lutheran Women in Mission, we joyfully proclaim Christ, support missions, and equip women to honor God by serving others. Lutheran Women in Mission dedicate themselves to develop a close relationship between Lutheran Women in Mission and LCMS church workers in helping them to spread the Gospel.

As the LWML meet in convention in Milwaukee to Celebrate the Lord of the Nations, the LWML Church Workers in Mission (CWIM) Committee invites all those planning to attend to visit their booth in the Exhibit Hall, Celebrate Church Workers where participants will learn a number of ways they can reach out in love to support, encourage, and care for church workers. Let’s celebrate the enormous gift that the church workers are and keep them in our prayers.

For those who are planning to attend the convention, please bring a photo of your church workers labeled with their names and district to the CWIM Committee booth in the Exhibit Hall. The photo will be displayed with all other photos of church workers from across the nation and the world.

2023 LWML Convention Servant Events

The Servant Connections area at the LWML Convention will be very busy when participants arrive ready to serve the Lord with gladness! (Psalm 100:2). A variety of mission minded events are planned from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2023. There will be countless things to do, make, assemble, write, and create, allowing opportunities to support many organizations.

So many thankful recipients will be the beneficiaries of the efforts. God be praised for —

  • Food kits and school backpacks assembled for Orphan Grain Train.
  • No-sew fleece pillows made, bookmarks colored, and cards of hope written for Phil’s Friends.
  • Witness bracelets and puppets put together for MOST Ministries.
  • Braille books and calendars made for Lutheran Braille Workers.
  • Cards created and written for mission workers and for A Place of Refuge.

Register for the convention now and join others in serving on Thursday, June 22 to “Celebrate the Lord of Nations” in Milwaukee

Another Festival in Milwaukee — Friday Fest!

Milwaukee is known as a city of festivals. The LWML will be having its own festival — Friday Fest — on Friday evening, June 23, 2023, at the Wisconsin Center as part of our convention celebration. “What is a Friday Fest?” you might ask. As His children, we celebrate all the gifts and talents our Lord has given us. LWML wants to showcase some of these talents. For Friday Fest, there will be three stages located in different areas of the Exhibit Hall at the Wisconsin Center and we are inviting local entertainment to participate.

One of the stages will be “Belting Ballads with Brad” (otherwise known as karaoke). Gather friends from your district or sisters and brothers in Christ from across the country and share your musical talents on the Friday Fest Karaoke Stage. No appointment is needed — just come and sing! Participants will enjoy listening to you make a joyful noise.

A New Story to Tell

There are thousands of Gospel-focused stories happening each day in our world. A special focus of the LWML Gospel Outreach Committee is to share the stories of how the Lord is working through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) pastors, church workers, and missionaries in the different LCMS regions around the globe.

“I Love to Tell the Story” is one way Lutheran Women in Mission shares these stories. We are excited to now tell the story of Benjamin Helge and his wife, Rebecca, as they serve the Lord in the Eurasia region, based in Havířov-Šumbark, Czech Republic. Benjamin works closely with the Silesian Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession and the Evangelical Center M.I.S.E. teaching conversational English to people of all ages.

Read more about this “I Love to Tell the Story” story and how God is using the Helge family to build a bridge connecting people to Christ.

Lutheran Women in Mission Attend Multiethnic Symposium 2023

Lutheran Women in Mission joined with other Lutheran mission leaders of various ethnicities from across the country during the 2023 Multiethnic Symposium. This continuing education event embraced the theme, “Hope for the Church, Hope for the Future” and took place on the Concordia Seminary campus in St. Louis, Missouri.

The different plenaries and sectionals helped participants understand the challenges of our neighbors who are first generation foreign-born immigrants and their children — also known as the 1.5 and 2.0 generations. Participants were inspired and encouraged through this event and by the grace and faithfulness of our Lord to continue His work of declaring His mighty acts to our children and to the world from generation to generation.

Representing Lutheran Women in Mission at the Multiethnic Symposium 2023 is LWML President Debbie Larson, LWML Nominating Chairman, Kaye Wolff, and LWML Marketing and Development Coordinator, Deaconess Patti Miller
