Message from your Chapter President, Scott Tibbo
As we head toward the end of this uniquely unprecedented and challenging year, with only one more month to go (thankfully), I am actually quite excited and energized about what we can and will accomplish next year within our CT Westchester Chapter. We expect to welcome (10) new members of our Board of Directors in January. Our nominees include several senior level CRE end-users from both the Hartford and Fairfield County/Westchester areas as well as several well-respected service provider members and two dynamic young professionals excited to drive our Young Leader and Higher Ed Outreach programs to new levels of engagement. You can view the slate of nominees, and vote here.
As a result of the Board’s recent strategic planning meetings we have set several key priorities for next year which include end-user member recruitment, young leader/student member growth and engagement, diversity and inclusion and as always - continuing to deliver solid programs and events throughout the year. I encourage all of you to please renew your membership. Thank you to our valued sponsors for your much needed continued support this year and again as we move forward!
Our two recent Sponsor-led panels where we had Rick Bertasi moderate the first event and Sanjiv Awasthi moderate the second were excellent as we intentionally flipped the format. We were able to hear and learn from all of our key service provider/sponsor members as they shared how the events of this year have impacted their businesses and what they have done to meet new and different needs of their clients as we are all an important part of this industry. Thank you again to the Program Committee for organizing these two events as well as the other great programs throughout the year.
Please also note the invitation below about our upcoming Virtual Holiday Party Wednesday, December 16th from 4:30 to 6pm for a lively celebration of the Holiday season, as we reflect on this year’s accomplishments and look forward to the year to come. We will welcome CoreNet Global CEO, Angela Cain as our special guest as we review 2020 highlights, introduce our newest Board Members, and award our Volunteer(s) of the Year. We will also enjoy a group Trivia Game (complete with prizes!) and break into small groups for informal discussions and we will be sure to mix it up so you can mingle with a variety of colleagues. Find a festive Zoom Background, wear your favorite holiday attire and join us for our culminating event of the year! No cost to attend. No need to travel.  No excuses to not to attend!!
Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving holiday and thanks all for your continued support and engagement!!!

Be well. Stay Safe. Stay Connected.

Bringing the outside into the office: Coronavirus bolsters push towards healthier building design
by Emma Newburger, CNBC
Even as the coronavirus pandemic worsens in the U.S., stay-at-home orders in some areas have loosened and companies have sent some workers back to offices with social distancing restrictions, temperature checks and plexiglass sneeze barriers.

These new health precautions amid Covid-19 are new for offices. But architects and office designers have long worked on innovations to make corporate space healthier and better for the environment — projects they say will be in higher demand even as millions work from home and corporations rethink their need for future office space.

Future Proof Your Business with Good Indoor Air Quality
by Lilet Camara, uHoo, CoreNet Global
There are two important lessons that the coronavirus pandemic has taught businesses: first, we really can’t predict the future no matter how much planning we do; and second, our current strategies and practices no longer work in the New Normal. Where people are driven to stay indoors and contagion fears grip countries, many businesses are just striving to stay afloat and adapt as quickly as they can to protocols and guidelines that also change as fast as they are made. Understandably, business continuity strategies tend to focus more on the short-term objectives of responding and recovering from the crisis. Keeping your competitive edge, however, means looking beyond the present challenges and future-proofing your business today.
