If you would like to add your preferred pronouns to your existing Summit name tag, stickers are available at the greeting table.
This is optional, but if you feel comfortable doing so, sharing your pronouns and inviting others to share theirs, creates a more welcoming space for all. You can do this by adding pronouns to your name tag with a quick sticker at the greeting table, or by introducing yourself to someone new and sharing your preferred pronouns along with your name.
If you are unsure of someone’s pronouns, don’t assume, ask or stick to using the person’s name and the pronouns they/them. In addition, if your preferred pronoun combination is not available or if you have lost your printed name tag, and would like a new one, please let Jim Weed know

If you are interested in looking more closely at the survey results that Lara shared last Sunday you can find them on the Membership portion of our website https://members.summituuf.org/

The Michael Servetus/InterNational Conference Against Racism
October 28 – October 30, 2022
This conference will be a hybrid event, based on a professional Zoom system, in honor of one of our martyrs, Michael Servetus, whose idea of recreating a form of Christianity to include Jews and Muslims, is an archetype of what we mean by multiracial unitarian universalism. It is being sponsored by the Religious Professional Task Force of the Unitarian Universalist Multiracial Unity Action Council—UUMUAC. Our theme is the vital role which Multiracial Unitarian Universalism, as an embodiment of the Seven Principles of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations, especially the Fourth Principle, can play in the struggle against racism in all its forms from Afghanistan to Zambia. The Hilton Geneva Hotel and Conference Center, Geneva, Switzerland, will be the site for our key activities, and the times for the hybrid activities will be 9 am – 3 pm, Central Time (8 am – 2 pm Mountain; 7 am – 1 pm Pacific) and 4 – 10 pm, Geneva, Switzerland time.
Visit www.uumuac.org/international for more details.
The cost of registration, whether in-person or via Zoom, is $150. Registration will remain open until Thursday, October 27, 2022, Noon Central Time (7 p.m. Geneva Time). To register, complete the Contact page at www.uumuac.org, then use the Donate button to pay the registration cost; or send your contact information along with your registration payment to UUMUAC, 1448 E. 52nd St., Box 267, Chicago,IL 60615.

"Thank You" Gathering for Reverend Everett
|
On Saturday, November 12th, 3:00-4:30 p.m.
We will be gathering to celebrate and thank Rev. Everett Howe for his over 2 years’ time as our minister. While also pursuing his other passion in mathematics, Rev. Everett devoted his energy, time and love to our congregation, as we all worked to navigate our way and maintain our community through the hardest times of the pandemic. Come in person now to the Summit salon for an outdoor afternoon coffee and cake celebration, to thank Rev. Everett (and meet his spouse Bella!) It will be good to see each other, and wish him well.
We all worked together through the hardest times; now it is time to celebrate.
Should weather dictate, being masked and indoors in the Salon will also be appropriate.

Venturing Out Together
The Welcoming and Membership Committee suggests a way to reconnect
or get to know each other better:
Would you consider inviting others from Summit to join you at an upcoming outing or community event that you plan to attend? For example, a concert, play, museum, hike, lecture, or a new restaurant? Let’s venture out together and enjoy one another’s fellowship.
|
There is a wonderful book in Summit's library about the history of Summit, how we began in September of 1988 and the early, important decisions that helped us become the welcoming people we are today.
Come by and check out a copy.
The View from the Summit, an enjoyable, humorous read.

The Caring Committee is composed of a group of Summitarians that meet once a month. While maintaining confidentiality, we organize volunteers, match human resources with the needs of members and friends of Summit. We provide transportation, when necessary, to Summit events, medical and other appointments, shopping, and other essential errands. We also assist with memorial services. We have not met during Covid and are ramping up again.
We always need volunteers, so if you would like to help, contact Janet Dixon, spierdixon@mac.com,
or the Summit office, summituuf@gmail.com and you will be added to our list of wonderful helpers.
