What's Happening

Over the Edge was a huge success! Our Edgers faced the edge of the building and found the courage to rappel 170 feet down the Tower at Nassau Community College, all for the benefit of our programs that empower, assist, and care for people in need across Long Island and New York City. Thank you to all of our Edgers, donors, and sponsors! Click here to see who went Over the Edge!

EAC Network is partnering with Men’s Wearhouse once again to launch the 10th annual National Suit Drive, a month-long initiative that collects gently-used professional clothing for individuals transitioning back into the workforce.

Donations collected at local Men’s Wearhouse stores will be donated to EAC Network and distributed amongst our Vocational Services, which help disadvantaged individuals regain employment through job readiness programs and workforce assistance.

You can can donate gently-used professional clothing, including men’s and women’s suits, ties, jackets, shirts, pants, belts and shoes at any local Men’s Wearhouse location. As a thank you, donors will receive 50 percent off their next purchase of regular priced retail items. Learn more.

Recently, volunteers from BDO’s Melville office spent a day giving back to EAC Network programs, like Safe Start. Safe Start promotes child passenger safety, and one of its primary goals is to ensure all car seats are properly installed. Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death in children ages 1-12. The volunteers spent time beautifying the Butterfly Garden outside of the Safe Start house. Read more.

EAC Network Experts Present at NADCP Conference

This week, EAC Network staff Crystal Stanton (Staten Island TASC), Dr. Merrill Rotter (Medical Director), and Dr. Edward Fernandez (Queens TASC) presented at the National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP) Conference in Washington, DC. The conference discussed different diversion opportunities for people with behavioral health disorders who are involved in the criminal justice system, and focused on how mental health courts fit into diversion opportunities in communities. Providing diversion to individuals who are in need of treatment, not prison, is a key way to reduce recidivism, and is the foundation of many of our Behavioral Health programs.

We value our Corporate Partners, and EAC Network has a long relationship with Bank of America. In addition to yearly grants in support of of services, Bank of America employees take the time to get hands-on in our programs. Recently, they spent a day giving back to Fresh from the Garden by distributing fresh produce to at-risk seniors living in a "food desert." Read more.

Are you sure your child’s cart seat is installed correctly? According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 3 out of 4 car seats are installed incorrectly. That’s a huge margin for error. Why take a risk on your child’s safety when a trained professional can install the car seat for you?
