The Road Less Traveled
I received an email from one of our devoted members this week posing some questions about prayer. This young lady had received a request to pray for an injured child, suggesting that the more people who prayed for this child, the more likely God would bring healing and restore him to his family. Her question essentially was, why do we pray? Do we believe that because this particular child has hundreds of people praying for him that he will be saved, versus a Syrian refugee...

Dear Aledo UMC Family,
We finished putting wrapping paper in the gift bags last night for all the Aledo Advocat Angels and I wanted to tell you that what you provided - through Breakfast with Sants -  took us over the top !!!!!!  Thank you so much !!!!!  Our larger families got boxed sets of wrapping and each family got a big or two small rolls of wrapping.  It is truly amazing what we can accomplish as part of such a giving community !!!

Just to let you know - we are giving 421 kids Christmas gifts and that has touched 178 Aledo families lives this Christmas.

Thank you to you and to your church family.

Merry Christmas,

$100,000 Challenge
We are well on our way to meeting the challenge to raise $100,000 above our regular budgeted giving by the end of December.  To date we are approaching $60,000 in additional gifts.  Meeting this goal will not only help us end 2016 financially strong and meet all of our commitments, but also to enter 2017 with healthy cash reserves that will enable us to remain faithful to God's call to mission and ministry, even during those months when we traditionally operate at a deficit.

What can you do?
First, be in prayer for our church family as we strive to follow God's call to ministry and service in our community and around the world.
Second, review your latest statement of giving and make the commitment to fulfill your pledge before the end of December.
Third, consider an additional gift of cash, stock or other investment that will not only help you come tax time, but will help Aledo UMC reach our $100,000 goal.   When you make your gift, designate it for the "$100,000 Challenge."

Cookies With Love
Join us in sending a care package of cookies to those deployed around the world in defense of our country. When you are baking for the holiday, just bake a few extras. Place one dozen cookies in a one-gallon zip lock-type sealable bag. Include a note taped to each bag saying, "Cookies with Love, Aledo UMC, Aledo, TX." Then bring the bags to church by Wednesday, December 14 , and volunteers will prepare them for shipment.
