Our Mission: To Know Jesus Christ and to Make Him Known

From the Desk of the Rector…

In the Genesis reading for the Second Sunday in Lent, God is establishing a covenant with Abram. What is a covenant? A covenant is a binding agreement or pact between God and his people often involving promises and stipulations, serving as the backbone of God’s relationship and plan for humanity. An aspect of the promise God made with Abram was that his descendants would be numerous, and they would inhabit the land of Canaan – a land that extended from the river of Egypt to the river Euphrates. Now Abram was seventy-five and Sarai, his wife was sixty-five, when God called and told him to move from Ur of the Chaldeans (Southern Iraq) to the promised land of Canaan. Years passed and Abram was still without a male heir. Understandably, doubt began to set in for Abram about the promises of God... “He brought him outside and said, look toward heaven and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” The He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” Abram, much like us, in journeying with God, will often experience doubts about God’s divine plan for our lives. We live in the tension between faith and doubt. Nonetheless, God kept God’s promises to Abram and God will keep God’s promises to us. Will everything we ask of God be given unto us? No, it will not but we must ask God anyway. To doubt is human; however, my hope is that we will not let our doubt overwhelm our belief, for without belief nothing will manifest. Let us seek to never stop believing that God is faithful and pray that doubt never causes us to lose hope.

Lenten Blessings,

Fr. Reginald

St. Aidan's at the Atlanta Hunger Walk,

Sunday, March 16th, 2025

On a rainy but beautiful Sunday morning, the St. Aidan’s Hunger Warriors came together with hundreds of other people in our community for the 2025 Hunger Walk/Run, a heartwarming event that brought together people of all ages and backgrounds to raise awareness and funds for those in need of food assistance.

Prior to the walk, members of the Episcopal Community gathered together at the Absalom Jones Episcopal Center for Racial Healing for a youth-led Eucharist. After the service, the Episcopal community participants gathered at the Episcopal Community Foundation for Middle and North Georgia tent early in the morning to kick off the walk.

Established in 1982, the Episcopal Community Foundation for Middle and North Georgia (ECF) provides funding, leadership, and resources to Episcopal parishes and their nonprofit partners working with people facing poverty or oppression, achieving significant, long-lasting impact in the Diocese of Atlanta. ECF's hunger-related grants provide funding to organizations and ministries across the Diocese who feed the hungry, promoting thriving and spiritually strong individuals, families, and communities locally. Learn more at www.ECFimpact.org

The CFP raised $37,742, of which St. Aidan’s contributed $874. Overall, the entire Hunger Walk raised $555,666.55. Hunger Walk Run, an annual 5K walk and “fun run", was started in 1984 by an Episcopalian. It is the largest fundraiser for the Atlanta Community Food Bank and unites our community to raise awareness and critical funds for local hunger relief. Proceeds from the event benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank and other local nonprofit organizations that support food pantries, community kitchens, shelters and programs for neighbors in need of food assistance.

In its forty years, Hunger Walk Run has raised more than $15.5 million for hunger relief - enough to help provide more than 46 million meals! Thank you to those that contributed this year and we hope to have everyone join us next year!
