Spotlight on SPAAR: A look at the Met Council through an advocacy lens
Among the priorities of SPAAR's strategic plan is to be a top-of-mind resource for Met Council representatives and staff aides on information, data and industry as they relate to housing and other community issues.

SPAAR's weekly videos highlight timely news, events, member features and key information to help benefit members in their business. As such, these videos complement content also shared in SPAAR's newsletters, on its website and on social media.
SPAAR seeks to fill Board of Director spots for 2022
SPAAR's 2021 Nominating Committee is looking to fill three director positions for 2022. The position is a three-year term and directors are asked to make attendance a priority for all Board meetings, which typically occur once a month.

SPAAR is also accepting applications for its three officer positions: treasurer, president-elect and president.

Benefits of serving on the Board of Directors include:
  • Opportunities to both learn from and teach others
  • Direct involvement in decisions that impact the Association
  • A broader professional network of members as well as community and civic leaders
  • New experiences that develop professional and personal skills
  • Social opportunities that often lead to lasting friendships

All candidates must have been a member of the Association for one year prior to the date of the nomination and must be a Realtor® member in good standing with no ethics violations within the past year.

Interested members may apply here for a director or officer position. This year's application deadline is Friday, June 18.

NAHREP releases 2020 State of Hispanic Homeownership
The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) has released its annual report that highlights opportunities and barriers to homeownership for Latinos---impressive statistics show that homeownership increased significantly during the pandemic, continuing a multi-year increase in homeownership by this demographic group. Two specific challenges that threaten maintaining increases in homeownership: inventory of homes for sale and mortgage approval, especially for individuals who are self-employed and small business owners.

SPAAR partners with a number of real estate specialty groups, including NAHREP-Twin Cities.
