The Road Less Traveled
A commitment can be a scary thing. By its very nature, it is an act of faith, and that means a commitment is shrouded in uncertainty. And most of us don't like uncertainty. I can still remember one Saturday evening in late March 1992. I was locked in a small room...

Poinsettia Sales
Music Ministries' annual poinsettia sale begins today. Let's fill the sanctuary with beautiful flowers for Advent! Poinsettias may be ordered at the Connection Center for $15 each through November 26. Plants will be displayed in the sanctuary through Christmas Eve, and those who purchase plants may take them home after the Christmas Eve services.

Service of Hope
Sunday, November 19, 6:30pm in the Chapel
The holidays will soon be approaching, and that can be a difficult time for those who have lost a loved one. The Service of Hope provides a time to remember those loved ones who are no longer with us. Please feel free to invite family and friends who might benefit from being part of this special service, as well.

Breakfast with Santa
Saturday, December 2
Volunteers are needed in order to make Breakfast with Santa a success. If you are able to help with crafts, serve breakfast, or cook pancakes, please email  Jennifer McDaniel or sign up at the Connection Center.

Annual Chili Cookoff and Deck the Halls
Sunday, December 3, 5:30pm
Join us for one of our favorite events of the year! Our annual chili cook-off begins at 5:30pm, followed by the Deck the Halls worship service and decorating of the tree and sanctuary at 6:30pm. Children have a special role during the service of hanging the
Chrismons on the tree! Sign-up to enter the chili cook-off at the Connection Center or just come share in dinner and fellowship. Prizes will be awarded in three categories - Regular, Spicy, and "Not Your Mama's." Desserts are welcome as well.
Meet AUMC's New Director of Student Ministries
Sunday, December 3, 5:30pm
Rachelle Moreland will be at our Annual Chili Cookoff.
Be sure to introduce yourself and welcome her to our
AUMC family.

Ladies' Christmas Party and Ornament Exchange
Monday, December 4, at 6:00pm
All women are invited to attend the Annual Ornament Exchange graciously hosted by Nelda McGlinchey (8497 S. FM 1187, on the right, one mile past the big cow). Please bring a gift-wrapped ornament ($10.00 value) to exchange as well as an appetizer or dessert to share. The women's ministry is collecting money (cash not checks) for Christmas food baskets, to be distributed via Family Pathfinders. Please RSVP to Heather Stark if you plan on attending. If anyone needs to carpool, we can make arrangements to meet at the church and ride together.

Christmas Cookie Exchange

Wednesday, December 13, 5:30pm
The next AUMC Family Fun Night will be a Christmas Cookie Exchange. Please bring at least 3 dozen of your favorite Christmas cookies to share. Everyone will get to bring 2 dozen cookies home and the remaining cookies will be sent to US Military Troops. Pizza dinner will be served at 5:30pm ($1/slice) and the Cookie Exchange will begin at 6:30.

On the Go Devo

Sometimes life keeps you away from church on Sunday, but that doesn't mean you have to miss out.  Our weekly ON THE GO DEVO keeps you talking about what your church family is talking about, even if you can't be here.  You can subscribe to have the DEVO delivered to your mobile device each week by texting ONTHEGO to 68398.

Are you taking advantage of electronic giving?
When we join the church, we pledge to support the life and ministry of the church with our financial gifts. That can get complicated on those weeks when we can't be here as the offering plate comes around. But through electronic giving, you remain faithful to your membership vows, even on those weeks when life takes you elsewhere. It's easy. It's safe. And it benefits both you and your church family. Setting it up is easy and only takes a few minutes. Contact Shari Birchell at sharibirchell@aledoumc.org to set up an automatic transfer from your checking account. Or go to aledoumc.org/give to use your credit or debit card.
