Sensible Housing Ballot Committee seeks members' GOTV help
The vote on rent control is just a week away, on Tuesday, November 2, which means the Sensible Housing Ballot Committee (SHBC) is making its final push to persuade and turn out voters against ballot question number 1.

The SHBC is organizing Get Out the Vote (GOTV) efforts and are respectfully requesting volunteers to help. There are three ways you can help get out the vote this week:
  • Online phone banking starting Wednesday, October 27 through Tuesday, November 2. Volunteers would receive a generic login to call voters from their home or wherever is most convenient. Volunteers will be given scripts to read for the calls.
  • Boots on the ground. Volunteers would drop literature at people’s doors.
  • Organized Canvass on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and/or Monday, which would be conversations with voters.

It is as important as ever that we put the time and effort into reaching out to our fellow citizens and educate them about the pitfalls of rent control. Please consider taking the time to volunteer to help defeat rent control in Saint Paul.

If you are interested in volunteering or learning more details about the three ways to help, reach out to SPAAR's Government Affairs team of Simon Opatz at sopatz@spaar.com or Becky Wegscheid at bwegscheid@spaar.com.

Leadership SPAAR is a great opportunity for members who want to grow in their leadership both personally and professionally. In addition, Leadership SPAAR expands the pool of candidates for future Association leadership by introducing participants to the committee/leadership structure, strategic objectives and operational practices SPAAR employs to achieve its goal of fostering Better Agents, Better Communities.

Some of the activities that occur during the year-long cohort including media training, community service and a firsthand look at the industry through the advocacy lens for Housing Day at the Capitol. Coming soon: SPAAR's Member Communications Survey
Every two years SPAAR invites participation in its Member Communications Survey, an opportunity for members to share their voices, thoughts and ideas in a number of areas. Because this information also helps to take the pulse on the programs and services offered at SPAAR, as well as provide insight to be sure members' needs are met, SPAAR will offer some incentives for participation.
