Interested in expanding your personal and professional development plans for 2022?

Take part in SPAAR’s first-ever SPAAR Connect, a committee fair to discover new ways to be active in your business and community through committee involvement. SPAAR is member-driven and welcomes all members to share their voice!

Attend SPAAR Connect on Thursday, October 14, from 11am to 1pm at SPAAR (325 Roselawn Ave E) for networking and lunch, and learn what each of the seven SPAAR committees has to offer. The SPAAR committees include Affiliates; Communications; Community Engagement; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; Government Affairs; Metro Young Professionals Network; and Professionalism.

In addition, SPAAR has invited representatives from specialty real estate organizations including NAREB, NAHREP, Real Estate Alliance and AREAA to participate and share what they're about.
Survey shows SPAAR members give back time and again
Realtors® have a reputation for giving back to their communities. And residents of Minnesota, along with Utah and Maryland, are the most generous in the nation when it comes to donating money and volunteer service to charity, according to a WalletHub study (November 2020). So, it should come as no surprise that SPAAR members, both Realtors® and Affiliates, are present in the communities where they live and work. The most recent SPAAR member survey, taken in late 2019, heard from 406 members that 85 percent of them actively volunteer throughout the year. Here's the breakdown:
  • Annually, 11.72%
  • Semi-annually, 28.18%
  • Monthly, 29.93%
  • Weekly, 14.21%

Nonprofits, churches, schools, community groups, political organizations, hospitals, brokerage opportunities and more are just some of the many kinds of places where members give of their time, talent, money and energy.

It’s known that the Covid-19 pandemic put a lot of volunteer outreach on hiatus, at least temporarily for some time, but SPAAR captured the list of organizations shared as a resource to know what is important to members, and where they are involved. SPAAR will be asking this question in its upcoming SPAAR 2021-member survey, which will be distributed to all members later this fall.

In addition, SPAAR continues to provide volunteer opportunities, including those with community organizations, throughout the year. Learn more here.

Attention Affiliate members: sponsor a table during NMO
SPAAR’s Affiliate members have the opportunity to get in front of new members at SPAAR’s New Member Orientation, which is required for all new Realtor® members and must be completed within 90 days of joining the Association. Approximately 40-55 new members come through the doors at SPAAR to learn about the Association, their membership within, and other valuable resources that will help them in their business.

Affiliate sponsors can staff a table, at no cost to participate, and network with the new members during arrival as well as their 45-minute lunch break. Promotional branded items are allowed as long as they’re out of sight during CE instruction.

Contact Kristin Parker to learn more, including what dates are available, or with any questions.
