A Note from Pastor Randy & Pastor Ben
SUMMER…
…is in full swing! With the 4 th  of July out of the way, we focus on our online VBS that has been prepared by Ben and his team. Though not the ideal situation, a great effort has been made to provide VBS for your children. Parents, this is going to be a great time to minister to your children as you are the facilitator in the home. May God show HIS power and do great things in lieu of the pandemic! Thanks Ben and team for all your hard work! See all the details below on how to register and other pertinent details.

SUMMER STORIES
We continue our summer stories series as we look at Jacob this week. Clint did a great job presenting Josiah to us this past Sunday. The Bible is so remarkable that it teaches us through an 8-year-old king who brought the nation back to the worship of God. How timely for us and the need for our nation to turn back to God. The church bears this responsibility. Every Christ follower has the responsibility to bring reconciliation (2 Cor.5:19-20). May the greatest of summer stories be the ones you will tell as you engage others with Gospel conversations.

SIX FOOT FELLOWSHIP
I am up to visiting with you for fellowship! I miss you all so much. Call or text me at 205-516-7081 for a few moments to visit and pray for you and you’re family…..from six feet away! These are meant to be quick so I can see as many as possible. Can’t wait to hear from you!

Randy
For my second year at TCLP we’re having an unusual VBS! Last year we had VBS with most of the building under construction, and this year we’re meeting online because of COVID-19. But every time our children’s ministry council and our staff met to talk about how the new restrictions would impact our event, we never wavered from our determination to have it this year. VBS is unique among all events that happen at our church in its reach with the Gospel. Every year God uses the message of VBS to call people to faith in Jesus, and there is nothing we value more highly than that.

We expect nothing different this year. We are preparing packages for every child that registers. In each package will materials for crafts and games that we would typically do on campus. When children move through these stations here, we use these simple and silly things as opportunities to reinforce Gospel truths. This year these opportunities will be in the hands of their parents! When you look at paint, water guns, and t-shirts in a box, see new ways to help your child connect their heart to God’s. Have fun with each thing, but look for open doors to share God’s truth and how it shapes your own life!

This week we’re also producing videos that share the Bible stories and worship rallies we would normally have all together. Our stories will help kids understand how Jesus’ Power Helps Us Do Hard Things, Lets Us Live Forever, and Gives Us Hope. We’ll reinforce those truths through story, song, and games. This is what makes VBS successful, meeting kids where they are developmentally with real, powerful truth that will be a challenge to them for the rest of their lives.

Don’t let this opportunity slip away because of unusual circumstances. God is going to change lives through VBS this year! Register your family and friends today. Take advantage of the time you have with your kids to share the only thing of lasting value we can pass on, eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. We are praying for you and are looking forward to walking through this with you. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at ben.stephenson@libertypark.org. I am so grateful to serve the families at Liberty Park!

Called Business Meeting - Sunday, July 19
With the concurrence of the Deacons, it is proposed that we engage Myrick, Gurosky, & Associates to transform the Fellowship Hall into permanent adult education space in accordance with the Master Plan approved in 2019. We will have a Called Business Meeting on Sunday, July 19 to vote on this proposal as a congregation.

Background:  One of the areas damaged by the water leak in March 2020 was the floor in the Fellowship Hall. Because of the damage, the age of the floor, and the difficulty in matching the current tile in the Fellowship Hall, our insurance company, Cincinnati Insurance, agreed to replace the entire floor.

The Master Plan approved in 2019 calls for transforming the current Fellowship Hall into permanent adult education space. Since the plan calls for transforming the space and since money for replacing the floor in the Fellowship Hall was included, MG&A was asked to price the possibility of transforming the current Fellowship Hall into permanent adult education space now.

Proposed Layout (See attached PDF):  The new proposed layout for the Fellowship Hall includes six permanent classrooms. Four of the classrooms are normal sized classrooms and would seat between 25 and 40 people (depending on the layout of the class). Two of the classrooms are large sized classrooms and would seat between 40 and 60 people (depending on the layout of the class). The two large size classrooms will provide space for larger Bible Study Groups, the Choir, and other medium-large sized groups. The first normal sized classroom, located on the right as you enter the Fellowship Hall in front of the kitchen serving windows, will include double doors that could be opened to allow the room to serve as a serving line for the kitchen when needed and closed to create space for a Bible Study Group. The room where the movable walls are currently stored will be emptied of the movable walls and will become storage space.

Financial Considerations
The cost of replacing the floors is covered under our recent insurance payment. The remaining Out of Pocket Cost for this project is $119,328. The Finance Committee has reviewed our Building receipts and is confident that we can handle this added expense as a congregation.

Timeline
From the time we release MG&A to begin the work, the project should take between 12-16 weeks.

Reservations for July 12 Worship Services
We are excited to host on-campus worship on Sunday, July 12, 2020. In order to allow for the proper social distancing precautions, we will limit each worship service to 75 attendees. To facilitate this and to avoid situations where we have to turn people away from church, please submit your church reservation preference.

***PLEASE NOTE*** At this time, we are only able to offer childcare during our 10:30am worship service. If you do not need childcare, please consider attending our 9:00am worship service to make room for our families with preschoolers and children at 10:30am.

Making Space - Books, Supplies, Furniture, etc.
We have identified several items that we no longer have space or use for at the church. The items are located in the hallway down by the Youth Room. If you would like to have any of the items, please claim and take them prior to Sunday, July 12. After July 12, all remaining items will be donated.

Children & Student Ministry Updates
VBS Update + Registration
The governor extended our Safer At Home restrictions for COVID-19. Since a normal, in-person VBS will not make meeting those expectations possible we are switching to an online VBS experience for this year. We still want parents to register their kids at  libertypark.org/vbs . For each registered child, we will prepare a free box with a VBS t-shirt, crafts, and game materials for them to pick up and take home. Then July 20-22 we will post daily VBS videos on the church’s YouTube channel. Each video will have a Worship Rally and Bible story. (Make sure to watch them live with us for an opportunity to win prizes!)

We know this is another disappointing outcome in a difficult summer, but we are still excited about any opportunity to share the Gospel with the next generation of Christ-followers! Make sure to invite your neighbors and friends to register and be a part!
Student Ministry Update
Tonight, Wednesday, July 8 from 6:00-7:30pm, we are planning to have a youth hangout at the Meadows' house. The students can either bring their own dinner or eat before. We will plan to stay outside. For more information or the address, contact Pastor Clint Barthel at clint.barthel@libertypark.org or call 256-345-6787.
