If you can assist with the clean-up, sign up at the Hub table on Sunday or contact Peggy Patten.

NEWS AND UPDATES

A Friendly Reminder our offices will be closed December 25 and 26, in Christmas observance, and January 2, in New Years Day observance.
IMPORTANT MEMBERSHIP UPDATE!  Next "Pathway to Membership" Class will be Sunday  January 8!  To join this fast-paced two-hour interactive class, email Membership Coordinator, Sherry Bohlen or call me at 217.417.1148.

SNOW AND ICE SEASON
Please be careful in our parking lot! We do have a contract for snow removal but it doesn't kick in until 2" or more.  When smaller amounts occur the snow gets packed down or melts and turns to ice when the evening comes. We are exploring options to clear the lot for smaller amounts, but can't promise that it will always be cleared. Snow removal vendors have other clients and we may not always be first. If you arrive at church and the walk from the parking lot has some snow, and only if you are able, please shovel a path before too many footsteps pack the snow down, or at least spread ice melt that is always by the door. Shovels should be next to the doors as well.  On Sundays, the Sunday Sexton will try to have as much cleared as possible before people get here.

ANNOUNCING A NEW ADULT RE CLASS, "FACING DEATH WITH LIFE"

This program facilitates a process of personal reflection, learning, and spiritual growth focused on the topic of death and dying. It is not a grief support group. It includes sociological information and reflection, theological reflection, personal and shared narrative, creative expression, journaling, and practical learning and preparation. It helps participants move from viewing death as an abstract concept to developing a personal recognition of its meaning in their life, with the goal that all who participate in the program find a closer and more comfortable relationship with their own inevitable death. This program invites participants to experience death and dying as a healthy part of life, including the preparation, the moment of death, the grieving, and the living on.

Dates for this 8 session class are: January 17, 24, 31, February 7, 14,21, 28, March 7 from 6:30-8:30pm in the Children’s Chapel. There will be a limit of 12 participants.  Classes will be led by Joanne Giannino, Karla Peterson and Cindy Loui.  Please sign up by January 8 at the Hub Table in Fellowship Hall or by emailing: cindyloui83@gmail.com.
