Council appoints three new members to Village boards at Feb. 8 meeting
At their Feb. 8 meeting, the Village Council appointed a new member to the Audit Committee, two new members to the Waterways Advisory Board, approved a sign change on U.S. 1, the purchase of police radio equipment, and conducted other business.

Summary of Feb. 6 PZAB meeting actions
At their Feb. 6 meeting, the Planning, Zoning and Adjustment Board (PZAB) approved requests for building color and sign changes at two local businesses. A staff recommendation to set a 2-year expiration period for Site Plan approvals was rejected.

Join Friends of the NPB Library at Berry Fresh Saturday
Join your neighbors at Berry Fresh Cafe in Palm Beach Gardens this Saturday, Feb. 10 for a fundraiser benefiting the Friends of the NPB Library. Come for breakfast, brunch or lunch and 20% of the sales from your group will be donated to the Friends organization.

Council recognizes importance of 211 Helpline
The Village Council on Thursday recognized the important work of 211 Palm Beach Special Needs Helpline, which provides resources and information to residents in times of crisis and for everyday needs. If you are in emotional crisis, please call the 211 line 24/7 to get the info you need to recover.

Hear directly from the candidates Wednesday, Feb. 28
The next election for Village Council is Tuesday, March 19. A Meet-the-Candidates event is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 28 in the Community Center gym from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Residents are encouraged to attend and hear directly from the candidates themselves. The Village appreciates the American Association of University Women for conducting this important event every year for the residents of North Palm Beach.
A video of the event will be posted on Village social media the following day for those who can't attend.

Spring Camp registration starts Monday
Lots of fun planned for North Palm Beach Kids' Spring Break Camp: March 18-22. Ages 8-14. Residents: $225, non-residents: $250.
Registration for residents starts Feb 12. For non-residents it starts Feb 19.

Cars parked over the sidewalk are in violation of Village Code
It may seem like an insignificant matter at first, but when you consider kids in strollers, people in wheelchairs, elderly walkers and others who need to stay out of the road, then cars parked across the sidewalk become an obstruction or possibly a hazard. Check out Section 18-36 of the Village Code to see the ordinance, and remember to be considerate of those who need to stay on the sidewalk.

Signups for Thunderbolt T-ball league are now open
Signups for Thunderbolt T-ball (players aged 4-6 years) are now open for the spring season. Sponsored by the South Florida Thunder, this coed T-ball league will focus on the fundamentals of baseball and is ideal for those new to the game. The season will run from the end of March to the end of May with one practice during the week and games on Saturday morning.

Join us for some friendly competition in North Palm Beach as Atlantic Volleyball Club partners with Divas and Dudes to bring you an Indoor Coed Volleyball League. 10 weeks of games, and top 4 teams advance to a single elimination championship bracket- with the winners earning bragging rights and a limited edition t-shirt.

AARP Tax Aides to provide free assistance until April 12
AARP Tax Aide volunteers are preparing tax returns for free again this year in the library on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The assistance runs through April 12. Aides are scheduling appointments during their regular hours on Wednesdays and Fridays, though walk-ins without appointments are welcome.

Community Development Department moving to new location in March
To serve residents better, the Community Development Department, which includes Business Tax Receipts, the Building Division, Code Compliance and the Planning and Zoning Division, will be moving to 701 U.S. Highway 1 in March. The new location, at the northwest corner of U.S. 1 and Lighthouse Drive, will provide better space for staff and meetings, and will be easily accessible to the public.
