Summary of agenda items for Jan. 25 Council meeting


At their meeting on Thursday, Jan. 25, the Council will consider approving two contracts for sidewalk repair, the purchase of 35 computers, the final adoption of regulations relating to volume and massing of single-family homes, and several other items.

Osborne Park makes "hidden gems" list in Palm Beach Post


The Palm Beach Post recently included Osborne Park on Prosperity Farms Road in their list of six "hidden gems" -- small parks in northern Palm Beach County that are small, but "serve as a place for residents to befriend their neighbors, host birthday parties, take their dogs for an afternoon walk or simply find a moment of peace in nature."


Come out to the Community Garden in Osborne Park Saturday for Garden Fest and see what Osborne Park has to offer (see next article for details).

Celebrate Arbor Day at Village Garden Fest Saturday, Jan. 20


Join us for Garden Fest 2024 as part of Florida Arbor Day this Saturday, Jan. 20 at Osborne Park. It starts with a decorative bike parade at 9:20 a.m., touring the west side of town.


Then from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. there will be food from the grill, arts and crafts, children's face painting and a unique garden-tasting experience.


Also, enjoy live music by the North Palm Youth Symphony, and learn gardening insights from a master gardener talk. All free. For more info, email villageofnpb.communitygarden@gmail.com

Can you volunteer to serve on a Village Board or Committee?


Interested in making a difference and supporting your community? Maybe you can volunteer for one of three open Village Board and Committee seats, and help advise the Council on specific issues and activities. Annual appointments will be made soon. If you are interested, please apply at the link.

Temporary lane closure planned for Jack Nicklaus Drive


The Florida Department of Transportation will briefly close the westbound lane of Jack Nicklaus Drive (State Road A1A) on Monday, Jan. 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Crews will be working on the bridge east of U.S. 1, and flaggers will be directing traffic, so please drive cautiously in the area or choose another route. 

This is not a Village-run meeting. This meeting is with the developer and is a separate meeting from the one set by the Community Development Department detailed below.

Meet the Community Development Team


Residents and business owners are invited to meet the Community Development Team Tuesday, Jan. 23 at the Country Club. This meeting will be to exchange general ideas about zoning, public spaces, and local business. It is NOT intended to be a forum to resolve all concerns about specific proposed developments. Those WILL BE scheduled for public hearings at the appropriate dates and times AFTER the new Council is selected in the March elections.

Time: 8 to 9 a.m.

Place: Country Club banquet room

Online building permit system is now live for public use


The new online system for Village building permit applications is now live. Permit applications are now done online only through the Building Division webpage at the link provided, and all plans submitted must comply with the 2023 FBC 8th Edition.

2nd reading for massing regulations is Thursday


The Village Council is considering the re-adoption with modifications of the previously repealed volume and massing regulations for two-story single-family homes. The 2nd reading of the Ordinance is Thursday, Jan. 25. "Grandfathering" is proposed for permits filed before Jan. 26.

Hot Cars and Chili event promises fun, flavor and fantastic classic cars


Come see nearly 100 classic cars and try unlimited chili samples at the Annual Hot Cars and Chili event on Saturday, Jan. 27 in Anchorage Park. A $5 wristband purchase will make the perfect Saturday in the park. There will be a live 'Elvis ' show as well. The event starts at Noon and runs until 4 p.m. Food and beer for sale. AARP Tax Aides to provide free assistance starting Feb. 7


AARP Tax Aide volunteers will prepare tax returns for free again this year in the library on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The assistance runs from Feb. 7 through April 12. Aides will be in the library handing out forms and scheduling advance appointments on Jan. 24 from 12 to 2 p.m., and on Feb. 2 from 9 to 11 a.m. They will also schedule appointments during their regular hours on Wednesdays and Fridays, though walk-ins without appointments will be welcome.

Join the North Palm Beach Public Library's guest author, Susan Shapiro Barash, on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. She will discuss her novel "Maribelle's Shadow." Don't miss the opportunity to meet the author and get an exclusive insight into her book!

The Friends of the Library's Annual Book Sale is back! Members join us on Monday for the Pre-Sale to get first pick at all our books, DVDs, children's books, and more. Not a member? Community Development Department moving to new location in March


To serve residents better, the Community Development Department, which includes Business Tax Receipts, the Building Division, Code Compliance and the Planning and Zoning Division, will be moving to 701 U.S. Highway 1 in March. The new location, at the northwest corner of U.S. 1 and Lighthouse Drive, will provide better space for staff and meetings, and will be easily accessible to the public.

Only Country Club golf carts can be driven on golf course


REMINDER: When you are out on the Village golf course, please use the Country Club's golf carts while moving about on the greens. They are maintained to ensure user safety and to protect from unnecessary damage to the grass and bunkers.
