The CSI Sustainability Council would like to thank you all for your help with our Shoe Drive last semester. The final count was 2300 pairs of shoes that did not enter the landfill, but instead provided small business owners in Third W
orld countries with a way to make a living. It also yielded $975 for the Twin Falls Animal Shelter. It truly was a win-win-win!

In his Herrett Forum lecture "Over the Rainbow," Brandon will share his experiences of growing up queer in the Magic Valley and discuss how he uses his art to explore the depths of LGBTQ repression with generous offerings of love and laughter to guide his audience to become blossoming souls of acceptance.
Brandon Scott Tesch is a Twin Falls hairdresser, performance artist, and a leading light in the local LGBTQ community. A native of the Magic Valley, Brandon experienced first-hand the stigma and prejudice of growing up gay in rural America. Mastering the art of styling hair and cultivating a loyal and loving clientele have been his professional focus over the last 17 years. Brandon also has a passion for the performing arts. When Brandon was 15, he discovered his alter ego, Ursula, a superhero version of himself that he uses to address the social stigmas and conflicts confronting the LGBTQ community. Last year, Brandon/Ursula created and performed Snake Snails and Puppy Dog Tails, a CSl Fine Arts Stage Door series production documenting Brandon's gender bending realization that his gender identity lies
"somewhere over the rainbow" -somewhere in the middle of the male-female gender spectrum. Brandon has also produced two benefit shows for Magic Valley Pride, delivered a spectacular performance in The Vagina Monologues, and contributed a presentation for Tedx Twin Falls.

For this multi-disciplinary production, Inspirata will be collaborating with a variety of artists, including the pottery of Bill and Sheryl West, the percussion of Scott Farkas, the visual art of Mike Youngman, the choreography of Kiah Carpenter, the poetry of Shane Brown and Camille Barigar, and more. Don't miss this opportunity to get a look at the creative process.

The CSI Stage Door Series, intimate arts experiences where both performers and audience members are on the stage itself, are designed to be thought-provoking and a little out of the ordinary in different ways - whether it's because of the intimate setting, the material performed, the way they are presented, or the collaborations involved.

When there's less
doctor-patient dialogue
, patients are not only more likely to leave the office frustrated, but they're also at greater risk of being misdiagnosed. Want to make up for the time crunch? Try these strategies to maximize your office visit and talk so your doctor will listen.
Make a human connection
Before you dive into your
concerns, break the ice with a greeting or even a joke. "Doctors are people first, and we're much more receptive when a patient begins a conversation with a simple, 'How's your day going?' " explains Katie Neuendorf, M.D., medical director for the Center of Excellence in Health Care Communication at the Cleveland Clinic.
