FEEL LIKE JUDGING SOMEBODY??
GOOD!!
For the past 18 years, the CSI Golden Eagle Forensics team has offered a tournament on CSI's campus. We do this as a service to the Northwest Forensics Conference. It takes a mountain of people to create a smooth and effectively run tournament. Our team has been supported so well by the CSI community each year. This year we are once again looking for judges to evaluate speech and debate rounds. If you have a couple of hours, or the whole day, please consider judging for us on Sept. 25
and 26
. Please see the schedule below for specific times. Please contact me if you are able to judge as soon as possible. (By the way, although volunteering your time is GREATLY appreciated, I am able to pay $10 per round. So, this could be a way to get a few extra bucks in your pocket too!)

TWIN FALLS * The Times-News has announced the makeup of the panelists at a planned community forum to answer questions about the College of Southern Idaho's refugee program.
The panelists are:
- Larry Bartlett, director of the U.S. State Department's Office on Refugee Admissions, Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration
- Ken Tota, deputy director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Refugee Resettlement
- ZeZe Rwasama, director of the College of Southern Idaho Refugee Programs
- Bike Pike, Twin Falls deputy city manager of public safety
- Mike Mason, CSI's vice president of finance
- Dr. Steven Kohtz, with St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center
- Wiley Dobbs, superintendent of the Twin Falls School District.
The program, which has been run by CSI since the early 1980s, has become controversial since news came out this spring that some Syrians will likely be among the refugees who will be resettled here starting in October.
The panelists will introduce themselves, followed by the question-and-answer session, which will be moderated by Times-News editor Matt Christensen. The intent of the forum is to get representatives of agencies that provide services to refugees to answer the community's questions, not to get opinions politicians, policymakers or representatives from pro- or anti-refugee groups on the panel, Christensen said.
The forum will start at 6:30 p.m. at the College of Southern Idaho's Fine Arts Auditorium. Admission is free. People can submit questions at the forum or in advance to Christensen at
[email protected].

Del Parkinson will perform a program entitled "Shall We Dance?". The music represents numerous nationalities and genres, ranging from graceful ballroom dance to untamed gypsy dance and even a spirited cowboy hoedown. The program will blend narration with live performance. The performer will introduce the origin of each piece before playing it on the piano. "The dance selections are delightful," Parkinson said. "They contain memorable melodies and toe-tapping rhythms. This infectious music should inspire everyone to move to the beat!" Parkinson is professor of piano at Boise State University. He has recorded seven CDs and is recognized on the international roster of Steinway artists.

Six past and present College of Southern Idaho employees and board members, each with a different perspective on CSI's first 50 years, will speak at the first Herrett Forum of the school year at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16.
John Coleman was one of five original CSI board members appointed by the governor in 1965. Charles 'Chuck' Lehrman served as
a CSI board member from 1974 until 2010. Paula Edmonds Hollifield was a Communication professor from 1980 until 2007. Terry Patterson has taught Aquaculture starting in 1977 and is now an Instructional Dean. Monty Arrossa was the Director of Human Resources from 2004 to 2014 and still teaches some classes. And Chris Bragg has been a Communication Professor starting in 1994 and is currently the Associate Dean of Institutional Effectiveness and CSI's Chief Accreditation Officer. These six speakers will reflect on their experiences at CSI and the school's impact on education and the community.
The Herrett Forum is a monthly series of presentations generally held the third Wednesday evening of each month during the school year. Topics are coordinated by the Herrett Forum Committee, a group of community individuals dedicated to bringing high quality presentations to Twin Falls. No tickets are required for this free public lecture. Doors open at 7 p.m. The Herrett Center for Arts and Science is located on the north side of the College of Southern Idaho campus at the North College Road entrance.
