"The children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way."

- Whitney Houston

Head of School's Reflection

Dear Redeemer Family,

Sometimes the simplest of advice is the most impactful. I recently came across the following quote and thought it worth sharing.

"Give children boundaries, expectations, rules, limits, rewards, and consequences. They will rise to the challenge and exceed your expectations every time."

Parenting can be hard, and sometimes it is worth reminding ourselves of the basics. Our children deserve it.

It takes a village, and we are all so fortunate to have one another!

Best regards,

Mary

Re-enrollment for 2024-2025 Program Year

To reserve a spot for your child for next year, please complete a re-enrollment form, which can be completed online via the parent portal on our website. The form must be completed by December 1, 2023. Students currently enrolled in the Day School have admission priority until then. After that date, we cannot guarantee your child a spot without a re-enrollment form. Please note that this is not a formal contract, and no money is due at this time.

Contracts will be mailed the second week in January. A non-refundable enrollment fee will be due with a signed contract in mid-February. Please note that the signed contract serves as a formal commitment to our program.

Redeemer is pleased to partner with Clarity, a financial aid platform, to process financial aid applications. More information will be forthcoming in the weeks ahead.

If for any reason your child will not be returning to the Day School next year, please notify the office. Feel free to contact us should you have any questions regarding the application or re-enrollment process as well as any questions you may have regarding our program offerings.

ENRICHMENT AT REDEEMER

Enrichment @ Redeemer this fall was a huge success. Our Superhero STEM class was filled with designing, planning, collaborating and creating. The children explored the engineering process as they used their “superpowers” to navigate the wide world of STEM. Each week in Book Worms, the students enjoyed a story that came to life with a variety of activities such as retelling stories, acting them out and creating projects all while helping to build their literacy skills and their love of reading. Be on the lookout in December for our winter enrichment opportunities.

SPORTS UPDATE

By: Eliza G. & Nora H. ( 2nd Grade)

The third grade Racers had a fun season. The Racers game against Cathedral was a success. Even though we lost, it was still a great game. The score was 4 to 0. They played really well. They also played against the teachers. Everyone tried really hard and the teachers won 2 to 1. Joauqin, Mrs. Sheckells, and Mrs. Owens scored. Go Racers!

What's happening in the classrooms?

The 2s with Mrs. Pyzik & Mrs. Zuidema

After a very full October, the short month of November has flown by! We started off the month exploring leaves and pinecones. We painted beautiful colored leaves and read silly books. Using play dough and leaves, we made leaf stamp prints. We also did an experiment mixing paint in a zip log bag to show the mixing of colors to create beautiful fall leaves. Most recently, on the theme of Thanksgiving, the children made special keepsake handprint turkey placements. We read a sweet and simple book about being thankful and danced around the room doing the “Turkey Hop” and “Hello Mr. Turkey.” We also played a fun color matching game where the children match the colors of the turkey feathers to a big turkey on our felt board. This is a hit ! Since we have been blessed with such beautiful fall weather, we have been lucky to enjoy lots of outside time and fresh air. Lastly, there is so much excitement in the air for the holidays we can’t wait to start all things Christmas. The children are now busy decorating and talking about the holidays . We have begun decorating our own felt Christmas tree, singing together, and making memorable crafts to take home to decorate your home as well.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

November was another exciting month at the Day School! Our first grade students exchanged welcome videos and Hi Neighbor! posters with our first grade friends at Govans Elementary. They are so excited about this special relationship and getting to know our pals better throughout the year. The pre-first and kindergarten classes enjoyed a fabulous field trip to the BMA where...The second grade was thrilled to invite parents for a homecooked family style taco bar. Our budding chefs cooked quite a feast! Our first annual 3rd Grade & Faculty Soccer Showdown brought out lots of school spirit. It was a hard-fought game, with the win eventually going to the faculty. The whole school loved gathering to celebrate a Thanksgiving feast, Charlie Brown style, complete with popcorn, pretzel sticks, and jelly beans! We thrilled to gather with our entire community to celebrate each other and our gratitude for our many gifts during the Thanksgiving Service. Thank you to all who supported our Boots for Baltimore efforts. We are so pleased to partner with the church to provide boots and socks for Baltimore's homeless men and women. Our students wore their boots and celebrated our efforts during chapel this week. Thank you to everyone in our community for making Redeemer such a special school!
