"School is a building which has four walls with tomorrow inside."

Lon Watters-

Head of School's Reflection

Dear Redeemer Community,

The new school year is starting to not feel so “new.” We have said hello, been welcomed, oriented, reunited, and reconnected. All of that sounds a little exhausting, which is likely why the start of the school year can feel exactly that! At the same time, it is a wonderful way to celebrate a new beginning and our Redeemer community.

Watching your children from the Back-to-School play date in August through these first few weeks of school has been heartwarming. They are enjoying old friends and teachers while at the same time navigating new friendships and getting to know less familiar faces and routines. They are laughing, playing and working together – and every so often even reminding one another of the rules! At this early age they are already developing incredible and necessary interpersonal skills every day.

It isn't a wonder. After watching our parent community at the play date, orientations, and our Wine and Cheese Happy Hours this past weekend, it is evident our students have wonderful role models. It was touching to see so many families and faculty members at our kick-off events this year. Old friends were reacquainted, and new friendships formed. People were laughing, enjoying each other's company and working together for our school community.

At Redeemer, we are blessed. Thanks to each one of you for making Redeemer so special!

Warmly,

Mary

What's happening in the classrooms?

Kindergarten with Mrs. Burkett & Mrs. Vandenberg

We would like to give a big THANK YOU to all our kindergarten families. You have been getting your children to school on time, checking and praising their work, and reading with them daily! During phonics, we continue to work on letter names, sounds, articulation, and lower-case formation. Our Geodes books have taken us on a trip to South America to learn about the famous soccer player, Pelé, and his journey to the World Cup. The boys and girls also had the opportunity to learn how people in Peru made fabric from the wool of alpacas. During math, the children have been working hard on writing their numbers and representing numbers with objects. They have been busy counting, writing, and comparing. We really appreciate all your support, especially with reinforcing the Redeemer Rules: Be Kind, Be Safe, Have Fun!

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

The school year has been off to a great start, including some wonderful gatherings of our community! We kicked off the program year with a fun Back to School Playdate where families enjoyed meeting and reconnecting. Parents gathered again for an Orientation Coffee and Wine & Cheese Happy Hour. Thank you to Megan Hinder, Tricia Hartsough, Alex LaPaglia, Emily Michalos, many parent volunteers, and our PC Co-chairs, Margarita Merritt and Amy Rivlin, for organizing these cherished back to school traditions. This week our 2s students and their parents met on a chilly afternoon for Popsicles on the Playground. The cold temps did not stop our youngest students from enjoying popsicles and playtime together. Today our 3s classes enjoyed a wonderful Teddy Bear picnic with their parents. They celebrated with tasty treats and loved introducing their stuffies to each other! Finally, the faculty gathered for CPR & First Aid training and the first Friday afternoon faculty meeting. Looking ahead we are excited about all that October brings!
