Scouting: It All Starts Here

We are excited to unveil the theme for the 2025 fall recruitment campaign: “Scouting: It All Starts Here.”

From adventure and creativity to community and teamwork—it all starts here! This fall, we are inviting families to discover how Scouting lays the foundation for a lifetime of fun, values, and unforgettable experiences.

Be The Spark

Have you ever considered the power of a single spark? How it can ignite a flame, bringing warmth, energy, and a sense of purpose? That's the core of our new campaign, "Be the Spark: Ignite a Future Leader," and we invite you to be that spark for the next generation. We believe that every individual has the potential to inspire and empower young people. Just as a spark can ignite a roaring flame, one dedicated leader can transform the lives of countless youth.

Volunteers are needed throughout our area. Please sign up today!

Energy Drink Safety

The consumption of energy drinks by children may lead to serious medical consequences. The American Academy of Pediatrics has stated that “stimulant-containing energy drinks have no place in the diet of children and adolescents.” According to the National Institutes of Health, a 24-ounce energy drink may contain as much caffeine as four or five cups of coffee.

Energy drinks contain stimulants such as caffeine and unregulated additives that may increase caffeine’s potency. Their use is discouraged by Scouting America.

For additional information on energy drinks, please follow the link below here.

Medal of Merit Awarded

Scout Leader Michael S. Woods demonstrated extraordinary courage and life-saving skills when a woman he was visiting suffered a severe stroke. Swiftly applying his scout training, Michael recognized the stroke symptoms using the FAST checklist (Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech slurred, Time to call 911) and immediately called EMS.

When the victim began to vomit, Michael quickly responded by placing her in the recovery position to maintain an open airway, continuously monitoring her condition until paramedics arrived. Due to the narrow doorways of the older home, Michael then physically assisted EMS personnel in carefully moving the victim onto a portable stretcher and then onto a gurney for transport.

Michael's decisive actions and critical thinking undoubtedly saved the woman's life, serving as a powerful testament to the values and skills fostered by Scouting America.

Congratulations to Michael on being awarded Scouting America’s Medal of Merit for his courage, leadership, and exemplary use of his Scout training.
