Thank you to our super gala kiddush co-sponsors, Michael Markovitch on the occasions of the birth of his granddaughter, Elisheva Yocheved, Isabel “Izzy” Rae, daughter of Heather and Joe Listhaus, and the engagement of his son, Jeremy Markovitch to Allison Chetrit, and by Steve Sieretski, esq., who is celebrating his bar-mitzvah parsha. Mazel tov to all!

This shabbos afternoon will mark the third installment of our collaborative seudah shlishis with the WSSS in our Elisheva Hall on the second floor.

A delicious and generous washing seudah will be presented complete with zemiors and divrei Torah this week by Ari Afialo, Law Professor and Parisian Jew of distinguished note.
Selichos , a series of penitential prayers and liturgy, begin this motzei shabbos around the world.

The minhag in Ohav Sholom is to recite selichos Sunday morning at 8:00am followed by shacharis at 8:30am. Please join us for this important addition to tefillah which will continue throughout the yomim nora’aim. May all our tefilos and teshuva be accepted! Amen.

See the poster below announcing that our expert sofer, Rabbi Shmuel Bodenheim, will be in shul this Sunday, first day selichos, to check your tefillin and mezuzos. He can (and should also) examine the “blackness” of your tefillin boxes and straps, as well provide new ones if necessary.

Please take advantage of this convenient and important service.

I look forward to choosing an outstanding lulav and esrog for you to fulfill the mitzvah this succos. The shul will send an email shortly to sign up for this service. Please respond accordingly.

Please email/call/invite them TODAY to enjoy the benefits of davening at OS without any commitment or financial obligation.
Tiskel l’mitzvos!
As you've undoubtedly heard, the great Rav Shlomo Gissinger, zt”l, passed away suddenly last week. He was my beloved Rebbe and I loved him dearly.
I was fortunate to be with him at yetzias neshama but I am bereft of a great role model and cherished friend.
He enjoyed coming to OS for many years as scholar in residence for shabbos chanukah.
I penned an obituary for him in the weekly newspaper The FJJ. Here is link the paper online and my column appears on page 104. I invite you to read this. May we only know simchas in the future.

Have a wonderful shabbos!

See you in shul!
