Shalom and hello everyone! I hope you are doing well.

Welcome back to all Ohav Sholom members and friends after a long summer vacation! We look forward to a wonderful year of learning, davening and spiritual growth - together.

Rosh Hashana and the High Holy Days are soon upon us. I’m excited to daven with you during this time of eis ratzon , a period of divine grace, at Ohav Sholom along with our distinguished staff of exceptional baalei tefilah.

It is my hope that we maximize our time in the holy month of Elul so as to properly prepare ourselves for the great tasks before us: Teshuvah, Tefilah, and Tzedukah.

Join me on this exciting journey of introspection and inspiration - as a connected and inspired kehillah. May we all merit to enjoy k’siva v’chasima tova! Amen.

We wish members Charles and Lydia Hoffman a hearty mazel tov upon the auf ruf of their dear son, Jonathan , this shabbos at Ohav Sholom!

Mazel tov to Jonathan Hoffman and his kallah Jaquelyn Smith , and their respective families. May they build a true bayis ne’eman b’yisroel and continue to give unlimited nachas to their parents! Amen.
Charles and Lydia will sponsor this week’s super gala kiddush to celebrate this joyous event and invite the entire community to join their simcha.

Mazel tov to Jonathan Hoffman and his kallah Jaquelyn Smith , and their respective families. May they build a true bayis ne’eman b’yisroel and continue to give unlimited nachas to their parents! Amen

I am proud to announce an “ Elul ” series of seudah shlishis in collaboration with the West Side Sephardic Minyan.

Join us this shabbos for an historic program with one of the great rabbinic leaders and thinkers in modern Israel, Rabbi Yosef Carme l, shlita

It is a great honor to have such a distinguished Rav and Posek address our kehillah and I urge every member and friend to join this important shabbos gathering - to learn and grow!

Rav Yosef Gershon Carmel was born in Jerusalem in 1953. He is the Rabbinical Dean of the Eretz Hemdah Institute for Advanced Jewish Studies in Jerusalem, the premier institution for training young rabbis to prepare for Israeli Rabbinate’s rigorous Yadin Yadin examinations and the Av Beit Din of the “Eretz Hemdah – Gazit” network of Batei Din. Rav Carmel is a graduate of the Nir Kiryat Arba Hesder Yeshiva and was Rosh Metivta there for more than ten years. He was a combat soldier in the IDF during the Yom Kippur war as well as the first Lebanon war. Rav Carmel heads Eretz Hemdah’s ‘Ask the Rabbi’ and ‘Shut B’Mareh HaBazak’ programs which provide Halachic answers in Hebrew and English to questioners from around the world, both from rabbis and laymen. To date, more than 20,000 replies have been sent out. He is the author of many articles on Tanach and Halacha, the book Tsofnat Eliyahu – a commentary on the Vilna Gaon’s commentary on the laws of financial damages in Shulchan Aruch Choshen Mishpat, the book Tzofnat Yeshayahu – from Uziya to Ahaz – a commentary on the prophecies of Yeshayahu during one of the stormiest times in Jewish history, and nine volumes of Responsa B’Mareh HaBazak.
Join us next shabbos for another joint OS/WSSS joint seudah shlishis as we welcome the famed educator and distinguished Jewish leader, Dean Boylan , of Touro College, to speak at Ohav Sholom.
